More impact performers make up Brewers' new Top 30 prospects list

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers have seen firsthand the impact top prospects can make, with Jackson Chourio and Joey Ortiz carrying the surprise leaders of the National League Central through stretches this season.

Both began the year among MLB Pipeline’s top five Milwaukee prospects before graduating early on. The Brewers also got a good stretch of critical starts from left-hander Robert Gasser, who was excellent before going down with a season-ending elbow injury. Jacob Misiorowski is knocking on the door at Triple-A Nashville, with a chance to help Milwaukee’s bullpen in the coming weeks.

Team Top 30 Prospects lists:
ALE: BAL | BOS | NYY | TB | TOR
ALC: CLE | CWS | DET | KC | MIN
ALW: HOU | LAA | OAK | SEA | TEX
NLE: ATL | MIA | NYM | PHI | WSH
NLC: CHC | CIN | MIL | PIT | STL
NLW: AZ | COL | LAD | SD | SF

They’re all a big part of the Brewers’ future. The question is who else will make the jump.

Here’s a look at the Brewers’ top prospects:

  1. Jeferson Quero, C (MLB No. 43)
  2. Cooper Pratt, SS (MLB No. 62)
  3. Jacob Misiorowski, RHP (MLB No. 66)
  4. Tyler Black, 1B (MLB No. 68)
  5. Robert Gasser, LHP

Biggest jump/fall

Here are the players whose ranks changed the most from the preseason list:

Jump: Jesus Made, SS (Preseason: not ranked | Midseason: No. 17)
Made, who Milwaukee signed for $950,000 in January, has absolutely taken off in his first taste of pro ball as a 17-year-old and was named a Dominican Summer League midseason All-Star for his efforts. A switch-hitter, Made entered the Minors with a power-over-hit profile, so he raised a few eyebrows with his discipline and approach in the DSL. Those traits will likely be challenged more when he heads stateside. Made has a strong arm that's his best defensive asset to this point, and the Brewers have given him ample time at both shortstop and third base (and even some looks at second) to find him a defensive home. The Crew has seen Chourio and Yophery Rodriguez use solid DSL performances to leap quickly up the chain, and Made could follow a similar path. -- Sam Dykstra

Fall: Eric Brown Jr., SS (Preseason: No. 12 | Midseason: not ranked)
Injuries have been a big part of Brown’s story since the Brewers drafted him 27th overall in 2022, but his fall from the Top 30 is also about performance. Brown ended the weekend slashing .192/.276/.278 at Double-A Biloxi, with 18 extra-base hits among his 58 total hits. He’ll turn 24 in December.
