Corey Ray's name will forever be etched in the Biloxi record books.

Ray, the Brewers' No. 6 prospect per MLB Pipeline, crushed a trio of home runs to help Milwaukee's Double-A affiliate beat Jackson, 8-3, on Wednesday afternoon at MGM Park in Biloxi, Miss. Ray joins Brett Phillips (2016) and Michael Choice ('17) as the only three Shuckers with a three-homer game.
The Brewers' first-round pick out of Louisville in 2016, Ray went deep on the first pitch he saw for a game-tying solo blast in the opening frame. He crushed another solo homer in his second at-bat in the third inning and later uncorked a two-run bomb in the sixth to give him 16 long balls on the year. Ray's 16 homers are tied for the most in a single season in Shuckers history.

The 23-year-old Ray entered the 2018 season with 12 home runs in 172 career Minor League games, and he has more than doubled that total in 86 games for Biloxi this year. He raised his season slugging percentage from .456 to .484 with the prolific offensive display.

Lucas Erceg, Milwaukee's No. 3 prospect, also homered for Biloxi, which improved to 46-43 with the victory.
Luis Ortiz, named to the 2018 SiriusXM Futures Game U.S. Team on Tuesday as a replacement for injured Astros pitching prospect Forrest Whitely, started on the mound for the Shuckers and allowed two runs (one earned) in three innings. Ortiz, the Brewers' No. 4 prospect, struck out two and walked none in the no-decision.
Earning the win was Cody Ponce, Milwaukee's No. 13 prospect, who fired 4 1/3 scoreless frames in relief while striking out seven. The 24-year-old right-hander allowed three hits and three walks while improving to 5-4 on the season.
