MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers' Triple-A team will have a new hitting coach in 2018, but most of the organization's Minor League instructors are returning for the coming season, according to a staff directory released Wednesday.
Dave Joppie will be the hitting coach at Triple-A Colorado Springs after spending last year in the same role at Class A Advanced Carolina. He'll work under manager Rick Sweet, who is back for a fourth season at the helm of Milwaukee's top Minor League club.
Double-A Biloxi manager Mike Guerrero, Carolina's Joe Ayrault, Class A Wisconsin's Matt Erickson and Rookie-level Helena's Nestor Corredor are also returning to their managerial posts, as are Short Season managers Rafael Neda (Arizona League) and Victor Estevez (Dominican Summer League). The Brewers and Cleveland Indians are teaming up to field an additional team in the Dominican Republic, to be managed by Alcides Melendez.
The most notable newcomer to the Brewers' Minor League coaching ranks is former Orioles pitcher Bob Milacki, who will be the pitching coach at Carolina after spending the last three years as a coach in the Washington Nationals' organization.
