PHOENIX -- Non-roster pitcher Brandon Beachy will take a few days off because of mild tendinitis in his right arm, but he isn't concerned that his twice-repaired elbow has been compromised.
"Obviously, I don't want to take a couple of days off, and it's a little frustrating, but I'm not worried in the long run," said Beachy, who has endured two Tommy John surgeries. "This is just an accumulation of things, and I tried to push through it, and now I have to pull back a bit. Everybody deals with things like that."
Beachy threw two-plus frames against the D-backs on Friday, but that included a 40-pitch marathon second inning. He was removed after he could not retire any of the three batters he faced in the third inning, when his fastball velocity dropped nearly three miles an hour.
Beachy went into Friday's start having allowed no runs in five innings, with one other start and one relief appearance. But he walked four of the final 12 batters he faced on Friday, another sign that something was amiss.
On Monday it will be exactly two years since Beachy underwent his second Tommy John procedure, while with Atlanta. He missed the entire 2014 season and spent most of 2015 at Triple-A Oklahoma City, also making two starts for the Dodgers and allowing seven runs in eight innings, with five strikeouts and six walks.
