TORONTO -- The Blue Jays acquired right-hander Arnold Leon from the A's on Tuesday afternoon in exchange for a player to be named or future cash considerations.
Leon made his Major League debut in 2015 and went 0-2 with a 4.39 ERA in 19 relief appearances. He also made 20 appearances for Triple-A Nashville, including six starts, and posted a 2.95 ERA in 58 innings.

The 27-year-old originally signed with the A's as a free agent in 2008. Leon spent parts of eight seasons in their Minor League organization, with 69 of his 177 appearances coming as a starter. He likely will have an opportunity to compete for a job in the Blue Jays' bullpen during Spring Training.
Toronto has 39 players on its 40-man roster. If Leon doesn't make the team out of Spring Training, the Blue Jays likely would explore the possibility of using Leon in the rotation at Triple-A Buffalo, as 57 of his 72 Minor League appearances since 2013 have come as a starter.
