Source: A's dismiss first-base coach Waller
The A's have dismissed first-base coach Tye Waller, MLB.com confirmed through a club source Wednesday evening.
The team has not made it official.
Waller was the longest tenured member of the A's coaching staff, based on service time, having just completed his ninth season with them.
The A's, led by manager Bob Melvin, are expected to retain the rest of the staff, which includes bench coach Mike Aldrete, hitting coach Darren Bush, pitching coach Curt Young, third-base coach Ron Washington, assistant hitting/catching coach Marcus Jensen and bullpen coach Scott Emerson.
Waller joined the A's in 2007 as first-base coach and split the 2008 season between first base and third. In 2009, he was promoted to bench coach under former manager Bob Geren and served in that capacity for two seasons before resuming first-base coaching duties in 2011. His job also entailed working with the team's outfielders.
