Chapman was stopped on northbound Interstate 71 near I-270 in Grove City, Ohio -- just outside of Columbus -- at 12:42 a.m. ET. The report stated that police arrested the 24-year-old, who was driving his Mercedes, when an officer discovered he had a suspended Kentucky driver's license. He was cited for speeding and driving under suspension, according to a police report obtained by WLWT.
Chapman was released after posting bond and has a June 6 court date.
During the Reds' 4-1 victory over the Braves on Monday, Chapman did not pitch after working the previous two games and four of the past five. He became the new Reds closer on Sunday and earned a save vs. the Yankees.
After Monday's game, Chapman was in an extended closed-door meeting with manager Dusty Baker, general manager Walt Jocketty and interpreter Tomas Vera.
"I don't know what happened exactly, we talked to him," Baker said. "He got a speeding ticket. That can happen to anybody. His people are taking care of it, and we're helping him."
