The Appalachian League announced its schedule on Monday for the 2023 season, which begins on June 6 and concludes with the championship game on Aug. 2.

There will also be an All-Star Game on July 25, and both that and the championship game will be broadcast live on MLB Network and MLB.com.

The 10-team Appalachian League is a summer collegiate baseball league that is part of the Major League Baseball and USA Baseball Prospect Development Pipeline. With roots that date as far back as 1911, it’s one of the longest-running leagues in the sport, though it’s undergone multiple transformations over the past century.

The modern version began in 1957 as a short-season league for Minor League Baseball, but the Appalachian League became a summer collegiate baseball league partnered with MLB and USA Baseball in 2021.

As for the 2023 season, the Opening Day matchups on June 6 are as follows:

• Pulaski River Turtles at Bluefield Ridge Runners
• Bristol State Liners at Princeton WhistlePigs
• Burlington Sock Puppets at Danville Otterbots
• Kingsport Axmen at Elizabethton River Ridgers
• Greeneville Flyboys at Johnson City Doughboys

Each team will conclude its 48-game regular season schedule on July 31. The championship game will be played two days later on Aug. 2.
