July 22: LHP activated from 60-day IL; RHP optioned to Double-A Rocket City; RHP designated for assignment
Quijada made his long-awaited return after undergoing Tommy John surgery on May 17, 2023, as he was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list before Monday's series opener against the Mariners. The lefty closed out his rehab with four straight scoreless outings for Triple-A Salt Lake.

Kochanowicz, the club's No. 7 prospect, was optioned after he posted a 14.14 ERA in two starts, including seven runs allowed over four innings against the A's on Saturday. The Angels will have to find a replacement for him in the rotation to start Thursday against the A's, and it could be lefty Kenny Rosenberg, who allowed one run over four innings in long relief on Saturday. Cimber had been out since June 15 with right shoulder inflammation but was DFA'd after posting a 7.03 ERA in 24 1/3 innings this year.

July 22: 1B returns to lineup
Schanuel left Saturday's game against the A's in the third inning with left calf tightness after unsuccessfully trying to beat out a grounder for a hit to end the top of the frame. Brandon Drury replaced him at first base in the bottom of the inning. Manager Ron Washington said after the game that it was just a cramp for Schanuel and that he was removed as a precaution. As a precaution on Sunday, he was held out of the starting lineup but came in off the bench with singles in the seventh and eighth innings. He was back in the lineup for Monday's series opener against the Mariners.

July 22: RHP Griffin Canning tentatively scheduled to start Wednesday
Canning left his start against the A's on Friday after 3 1/3 innings for precautionary reasons, as he felt discomfort in his right elbow when throwing his slider. Canning, though, said after the game that he didn't believe it was a serious injury and tested it out on Saturday, throwing against the outfield wall and playing catch without any issues. He gave a thumbs-up and said he felt fine as he came off the field. He also threw a bullpen session without any issues on Sunday. He said Monday he's on track to start Sunday against the Mariners. 10-DAY/15-DAY INJURED LIST

OF (torn meniscus in left knee)
Expected return: Possibly July 25
Trout suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee against the Phillies on April 29 but was frustrated because he wasn't sure how it occurred. An MRI exam on April 30 revealed the tear. He underwent surgery on May 3.

Trout spoke with the media on June 29 and said running is his biggest step. He is hopeful to return by late July. Manager Ron Washington said on July 4 that Trout had resumed running on a treadmill and hitting off a tee. Four days later, Trout said he had progressed to jogging on the field and taking soft toss.

After facing live pitching and participating in outfield drills from July 20-21 at the club's Spring Training complex in Arizona, Trout will start his rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on July 23 -- and could return to the Angels as early as July 25 to begin the Angels' homestand against the A's. INF (right wrist inflammation)
Expected return: Any day now
Rengifo felt something during a swing on July 3 and left the game. He underwent X-rays that showed no damage, but underwent an MRI exam on July 5 that revealed inflammation. It was enough for Rengifo to land on the injured list for the second time this year. He had been having a breakout season, hitting .315 with 22 stolen bases in 69 games.

He visited a hand specialist on July 8 and was diagnosed with only inflammation and no strain. Rengifo called it good news and said he hoped to return shortly after the All-Star break. He progressed to taking grounders, throwing and hitting off a tee on July 19, adding on July 20 that he's feeling good and plans to ramp up his hitting with more aggressive swings off the tee. He said on July 22 that he felt good enough to be activated as soon as July 23. (Last updated: July 22)

60-DAY INJURED LIST

RHP (right elbow inflammation)
Expected return: Possibly 2025
Wantz appeared in only one Major League game this season and was placed on the 15-day IL retroactive to July 1. He underwent a further examination and had season-ending elbow surgery, the club announced on July 13. It's unclear the nature of the operation, but it's likely Tommy John surgery, which would keep him out of action until late 2025 or '26. He's doing his rehab in Arizona, the Angels announced July 22. RHP (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return:
Possibly July
Cisnero struggled in his last outing on April 27, allowing a three-run homer to the Twins' Carlos Santana while recording just two outs in relief. After the game, he complained of shoulder discomfort and was placed on the injured list on April 28. Cisnero started his throwing progression and played catch on May 9. He progressed to throwing from 120 feet on May 17 and threw off a mound on May 19. But he felt tightness in his lower back after throwing and was moved to the 60-day injured list on May 29. He resumed throwing on June 10 and has been doing his rehab at the club's Spring Training complex in Arizona. (Last updated: July 22)

LHP (torn flexor tendon, torn ulnar collateral ligament)
Expected return: Possibly late 2025
Sandoval exited his June 21 start against the Dodgers with left forearm tightness and was placed on the injured list the next day with a left elbow strain. Sandoval felt it while pitching to former teammate Shohei Ohtani, signaling to the dugout after he threw an 89 mph fastball. He underwent an MRI exam on June 22 and told reporters on June 24 that he was diagnosed with a high-grade flexor tendon tear and a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He said he'll undergo surgery soon and expects to be out for at least a year. There remains a chance he could be out until 2026.

Sandoval was moved to the 60-day IL on June 25. He underwent successful surgery to repair his UCL on June 26. On June 29, he said that he had a brace inserted in his elbow as part of his Tommy John surgery. His timetable is roughly 12-14 months. (Last updated: June 29)

RHP (right lat strain)
Expected return: 2025
Caceres suffered a lat strain during Spring Training that required season-ending surgery in March. He made his Major League debut in 2023, allowing one run in 1 1/3 innings. He also had a 4.12 ERA with 85 strikeouts in 54 2/3 innings across three Minor League levels. He was officially shifted to the 60-day injured list on May 9. (Last updated: May 10)

RHP (torn ulnar collateral ligament)
Expected return: 2025
The Angels announced on April 18 that Stephenson would undergo season-ending elbow surgery, and he had Tommy John surgery with a brace inserted in his elbow on May 1. Stephenson said he believes it'll be a 12-month recovery but could take as long as 18 months. He was transferred to the 60-day injured list on April 21.

Stephenson was removed from his first rehab appearance on April 13 after facing just one batter and feeling something in his right elbow. Pitching for Triple-A Salt Lake, the right-hander opened up the bottom of the seventh inning on the mound but threw only four pitches, all balls, before signaling to the dugout. After speaking briefly to the trainer and a coach, Stephenson departed. (Last updated: May 3)
