Mota says key to Angels season is offense
TEMPE, Ariz.-- To Jose Mota, entering his 15th season on the broadcast team for FOX Sports West, the key to the Angels returning to the top of the American League West is very simple.
"It's going to take offense," Mota said. "The offense was just so poor [in 2015]. It never clicked. It was among the poorest in all of baseball, when it came down to slugging and on-base percentage and average collectively, creating runs."
The Angels finished the 2015 season ranked 20th in the Majors in runs scored. They received Major League-worst production from their left fielders and didn't give their best player, Mike Trout, nearly enough opportunities to drive in runs.
Heading into 2016, Mota touched on some reasons for optimism regarding this Angels offense and also identified a potential breakout candidate within the pitching staff.
