The Angels’ scheduled game against the Blue Jays on Sunday was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Aug. 10 at Angel Stadium. It'll be a change of venue, as the series finale was scheduled to be played at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Fla.

The first game of the doubleheader will be at 3:07 p.m. PT, which will serve as the makeup game for Sunday. The second will be at 7:07 p.m., which was the originally scheduled time for that day. The Blue Jays will be the home team in Game 1, while the Angels will be the home team in Game 2. Both contests will be seven innings and will also officially count as home games for the Halos statistically.

As a result of the postponed game, the Angels had to push back their starting pitchers a day. Right-hander Alex Cobb was slated to start on Sunday, but he will now get the nod in the series opener against the Royals on Monday at Kauffman Stadium. Righty Dylan Bundy will now start on Tuesday, while righty Griffin Canning is set to start on Wednesday.

Angels manager Joe Maddon said the extra day could be a good thing for the club to rest its pitchers, especially Cobb, who hasn’t pitched since April 3 because of a blister issue.

“These guys need to pitch, Cobb hasn’t pitched in a while and he’s ready to roll,” Maddon said. “This actually can be really beneficial. He was ready to pitch today, but an extra day isn’t going to hurt him. And then everyone else is pushed back one. We’ll try to utilize that extra rest we’ve wanted since the beginning.”

Two-way star Shohei Ohtani could also see his next start pushed back as a result, but the Angels will know more soon, as he’s tentatively scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Monday in Kansas City. If all goes well, he could return to the mound at some point during a three-game series against the Twins that begins on Friday. Ohtani is also dealing with a blister on his right middle finger and has been limited to one start (April 4) this season.
