Halos to host fans during 2021 season
Fans will be allowed to attend Angels home games this season, including Opening Day against the White Sox on April 1, California's department of public health announced Friday.
Currently, Orange County is in the purple tier of the state's colored-coded tier system, which means they would be able to host 100 fans, but without being able to sell concessions or host fans from outside the region. But once Orange County moves into the red tier -- which could come before Opening Day -- the Angels could open at 20 percent capacity, or roughly 9,000 fans. Once Orange County transitions from the red to orange tier, and eventually to the yellow tier, Angel Stadium’s capacity will begin at 20 percent, and then expand to 33 percent and 67 percent respectively.
“Angels Baseball is grateful that the Office of the Governor, State and Local Health Officials, Major League Baseball, and the five MLB Teams in California worked closely to develop plans that safely allow fans into our Ballparks for the start of the 2021 Season," Angels president John Carpino said. “We are thrilled to welcome fans back safely to the Big A.”
The Angels will announce information about ticket sales, suite rentals and stadium protocols once the state of California finalizes guidelines.
