Six amateur players with big league dreams will be among those who attend next week's MLB Draft in Texas, hoping to take their first step toward a career in the The Show.

The players scheduled to be on hand at Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth are left-handed pitcher Cam Caminiti (No. 15 overall prospect) from Saguaro High School in Arizona; switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje (No. 25) from Mississippi State University; shortstop Kaelen Culpepper (No. 31) from Kansas State University; outfielder Braden Montgomery (No. 8) from Texas A&M University; second baseman Christian Moore (No. 13) from the University of Tennessee; and shortstop JJ Wetherholt (No. 4) from West Virginia University.

The group will be in good company historically. Among the 71 amateur players to attend the Draft through the years are three-time AL MVP Mike Trout, 2022 AL MVP Aaron Judge, three-time All-Star and 2015 AL Rookie of the Year Carlos Correa, and Phillies All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm.

The Draft will be held July 14-16 during All-Star Week and feature 20 rounds, including the first two rounds, compensatory rounds, Competitive Balance Rounds and prospect promotion incentive selections on the first night.

Draft order for the first six picks was determined by MLB's second Draft Lottery held at the Winter Meetings in December. The Guardians will have the first pick for the first time in franchise history, while the Diamondbacks, Brewers and Twins each have an MLB-best four picks on the first day.
