Clean-shaven Bregman homers against Jays
HOUSTON -- Alex Bregman's mustache apparently didn't carry any super powers.
Bregman, who shaved his mustache between at-bats during Sunday's game against the Royals, blasted a solo homer in the third inning of Monday night's 6-3 loss in the series opener against the Blue Jays to tie the game at 2. It was the 12th homer of the year for Bregman, who added a go-ahead RBI single in the fourth off Blue Jays starter J.A. Happ.
On Sunday, Bregman was sporting a small mustache when he popped out in the first inning of an 11-3 win over the Royals, as well as when he walked in the second inning. By the time he came to bat in the fourth inning, the mustache was gone. Bregman offered no explanation after the game.
It was the first homer for Bregman since Wednesday, when he stretched his on-base streak to 31 games. The streak, during which Bregman hit eight homers, was the longest by an Astros player this year and came to an end on Thursday.
