A-Breg extends streak as Astros back JV early
ANAHEIM -- Alex Bregman (A-Breg) extended his MLB-best road on-base streak to 44 games during Saturday night's 8-3 win over the Angels, igniting the Astros' first-inning three-spot as Players' Weekend continues at Angel Stadium.
Bregman doubled against Angels rookie Jaime Barria (El Pana), knocking the first pitch of the game to the warning track in left field. Angels outfielder Eric Young (EYJ) nearly made a fantastic play to reel the ball in, but it caromed off his glove and into the wall.

The next batter, Jose Altuve (Tuve), singled Bregman home.
After Altuve reached second on a Carlos Correa (I am Groot) groundout, Barria got Tyler White (Whitey) on a flyout and looked to escape with only one run allowed. But Marwin Gonzalez (MarGo) and Yuli Gurriel (La Pina) hit back-to-back RBI doubles to give Justin Verlander (JV) a three-run lead before he took the mound.
By reaching base in 44 straight road games, Bregman broke a three-way tie for the second-longest such streak in franchise history, passing Hall of Famer Jeff Bagwell's 1998 stretch and Altuve's run in 2016. Bregman also holds a 22-game overall on-base streak, going back to July 29.
"My biggest thing is when you hit in front of Altuve and Correa and Yuli and Marwin, you need to get on base in front of those guys," Bregman said. "Just trying to put good swings on balls and that's pretty cool."
