ARLINGTON -- The Rangers are looking to finish the season strong under interim manager Don Wakamatsu, and Adrian Beltre's milestone night against the Mariners helped the club get off to a solid start on Friday night.
Beltre's three-run home run in the first inning off Erasmo Ramirez keyed the Rangers' 8-3 win over the Mariners at Globe Life Park. It was the 476th home run of Beltre's career, moving him past Stan Musial and Willie Stargell for 30th all-time.
"Obviously a little surreal -- proud, humbled," Beltre said. "I don't really know exactly how I got here, but it's kind of cool to be mentioned with all those names. It's pretty cool."
The game was called with two outs in the seventh inning after a 1 hour, nine minute rain delay. It was the first weather-shortened game in the history of Globe Life Park, and the Rangers' first win of less than nine full innings since May 12, 2006, against the Red Sox.
Beltre added a two-run single in the third inning, giving him five RBIs on the night. That gave Beltre 1,703 career RBIs, moving him past Jim Thome and Reggie Jackson for 22nd all-time. Beltre's five RBIs are the most he's had in a game since June 3, 2016, against the Mariners.
"He's a special guy, and somebody that I'll always look up to, as far as the work ethic," Wakamatsu said. "There's no mystery why he's at where he's at."
Wakamatsu said he talked to some of the younger players in the clubhouse before the game about taking advantage of the opportunity to learn from Beltre.

"We don't know how much longer he's going to be -- this year or next year, or whatever it is," Wakamatsu said. "Don't ever squander that: the ability to talk to him and get that leadership. There's 10 days left. There's still time to talk to him, and hopefully he's back. We'll find out. He's a special player that comes along once in a lifetime."
Beltre's production was all the support needed for "opener" Connor Sadzeck, who pitched one scoreless inning, and right-hander Ariel Jurado, who followed Sadzeck and had a turnaround outing.

Jurado allowed just two runs, six hits, walked one and struck out two over five innings. He had struggled in his last three outings, going 1-1 with an 8.31 ERA.
The Rangers' first win under Wakamatsu snapped a four-game losing streak, and the club improved to 7-11 in September. "It was nice to get the first one for him," Beltre said. "Obviously, he has won some before [with the Mariners], but it was nice to get the first one out of the way. Hopefully we can get some more before the season is over."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
With one out in the fourth inning, Jurickson Profar doubled to right field and scored on the play after a throwing error by Ben Gamel. Profar advanced home after the ball dribbled into the Mariners dugout, making it a 7-0 lead for the Rangers at the time.

Joey Gallo launched his 38th home run of the season off left-hander James Pazos in the sixth inning. The ball had an exit velocity of 109.7 mph and a distance of 432 feet, according to Statcast™. It was Gallo's 15th home run off a left-handed pitcher this season, tying a single-season club record for left-handed hitters set by Rafael Palmeiro in 2003.

Left-hander Mike Minor (12-7, 4.14 ERA) will start in the second game of the series against the Mariners on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CT at Globe Life Park. Minor is looking to earn his 13th win of the season, which would match a career high set in 2013 with the Braves. He is 1-2 with a 4.74 ERA in seven games (four starts) against the Mariners. Seattle will counter with lefty Marco Gonzales (12-9, 4.28).
