Judge homers for fourth straight game, stays on 61-homer pace

NEW YORK -- How special is what is doing right now? Take it from his teammates, especially one who has plenty of experience belting balls over the walls himself.

“He’s playing a video game,” Giancarlo Stanton said earlier this week.

The numbers might look that way, but this is real life. Judge hit his Major League-leading 49th home run on Friday night, cracking a solo shot to left field off Kyle Freeland in the Yankees’ 3-0 win over the Rockies at Yankee Stadium.

It is the fourth consecutive game with a homer for Judge, including a multihomer performance on Aug. 21 against the Guardians. Judge remains on pace for 61 homers, which would be one shy of his single-season American League record, set in 2022.

“The amazing part about what Aaron’s doing is, I don’t even necessarily feel like he’s on fire right now or anything,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said before Friday’s game. “I just feel like he’s this good.”

Judge has hit seven homers in his past eight games (since Aug. 14), eight homers in his past 11 games (since Aug. 11), 14 homers in his past 25 games (since July 26) and 17 homers in his past 34 games (since July 12).

This marks Judge’s second time this season homering in four consecutive games, having also done it from May 22-25.

Stanton also homered for New York, a solo shot to right-center in the fourth off Freeland. It was Stanton's second straight game with a home run.
