Hicks' game-ending catch earns Play of Week
Aaron Hicks' incredible diving catch to seal the Yankees' 14-12 win over the Twins on Tuesday has been recognized as the MLB Play of the Week presented by W.B. Mason.
With two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning and the bases loaded, Max Kepler laced a fly ball to the gap in left-center field that threatened to give Minnesota a walk-off victory at Target Field. But Hicks tracked it down and made a full-extension grab on the warning track to end one of the most thrilling games of the season.
The catch capped a big night for Hicks against his former team, as he also went 2-for-5 with a homer, a walk and two RBIs. His roundtripper came in the top of the ninth, momentarily putting New York ahead by a run before Minnesota tied the game in the bottom of the frame to force extra innings.
