OAKLAND -- The A's projected fifth starter, left-hander Felix Doubront, was pulled from his final exhibition outing in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Giants after just one inning with forearm tightness.
Doubront underwent an MRI, and the A's will await the results before finalizing their Opening Day roster. Should the lefty have to miss his scheduled start in Seattle on Friday, right-hander Jesse Hahn would likely be brought on board in his place.
"You could see the velocity was way down for him in the first, so we got him out of there," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "Not sure where it's going to go. We'll probably know more a little bit later. He didn't feel too concerned about it but admitted it was a little bit tight, therefore we got him out."
Doubront faced four batters in the opening frame, walking one, and finished his spring campaign with a 5.82 ERA. Hahn, in comparison, posted an 11.15 ERA during exhibition play, and he was optioned to Triple-A Nashville earlier this week in a surprise move.
Hahn made 16 starts for the A's last year, pitching to a 3.35 ERA following his trade from San Diego.
"Jesse Hahn is a guy who is not here with us right now, but he is," Melvin said. "This is a guy we are going to have during the course of this season and was very impactful last year. We made a big trade for him and he was the key guy in it and showed us why last year."
