Here's your guide to baseball's awards season
The Major League Baseball calendar certainly doesn't end once a World Series champion is crowned.
Sure, that's the most coveted trophy across the game, but there is plenty of other hardware left to hand out from Gold Gloves to Silver Sluggers to Rookies of the Year to Cy Young and MVP Awards.
Here's a look at all of the important dates when it comes to the 2024 awards season.
Oct. 28: Roberto Clemente Award presented by Capital One
Prior to Game 3 of World Series
Widely considered one of the game's most prestigious honors, the Roberto Clemente Award is given annually to the player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field.
Nov. 3: Rawlings Gold Glove Awards
8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN
Rawlings will announce the winners of the annual awards given to the best defensive player at each position in each league live on ESPN. This year's finalists were announced on Oct. 15. Voting for the Platinum Glove Awards, given to the best overall defensive player in each league, will begin immediately after.
Nov. 5: Executive of the Year Award
This honor will be announced during the GM Meetings, which will take place in San Antonio this year. As with other awards, voting is completed prior to the start of the postseason, which means results from the playoffs aren’t taken into account. Last year's winner was Orioles general manager Mike Elias.
Nov. 8: Platinum Gloves
The Platinum Glove Awards, one presented in each league to the best overall defensive player, will be announced at the Rawlings Gold Glove Dinner in New York City, where the Gold Glove Award winners will receive their trophies.
Nov. 12: Silver Slugger Awards
Each year since 1980, the best offensive player at each position in each league has been honored with a Silver Slugger Award based on voting from MLB managers and coaches. This will be the third year that there will be an award category for utility players, given the increasing prevalence of players who are defensively versatile. The finalists will be announced on Nov. 4.
Nov. 14: All-MLB Teams
The All-MLB Team was introduced in 2019 to honor players’ full-season contributions, given that All-Star selections are based on first-half performance. Fans were asked to vote at MLB.com to help choose first- and second-team selections at each position (including three outfielders, a DH, five starting pitchers and two relievers) among this year's nominees.
The All-MLB First and Second Teams will be revealed as part of All-MLB Weekend from Nov. 13-16 in Las Vegas, where a number of other awards will be announced.
Nov. 14: Hank Aaron Awards
Given annually to the best overall offensive performer in each league, the Hank Aaron Award winners will be announced as part of All-MLB Weekend in Las Vegas. Winners are determined by a combination of a fan vote and a panel of Hall of Famers.
Nov. 14: Rivera/Hoffman Reliever of the Year Awards
Named for Hall of Fame closers Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman when the awards were established in 2014, these honors go to the best reliever in each league.
Nov. 14: Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter
The Outstanding DH Award has been handed out since the designated hitter was first adopted by the AL in 1973, and it was renamed in honor of five-time winner and Hall of Famer Edgar Martinez in 2004. Shohei Ohtani has won the award in each of the past three seasons -- and is a clear frontrunner to win it again in 2024.
Nov. 14: Comeback Player of the Year Awards
The Comeback Player of the Year Awards honor one player from each league who has overcome adversity to return to a high level of performance in the Major Leagues.
Nov. 18: BBWAA Rookie of the Year Awards
The BBWAA opens its major awards week by honoring the top rookies from the 2024 season. It’s an honor with a strong legacy, bearing the name of Jackie Robinson, the first winner back in 1947.
Last year, Baltimore's Gunnar Henderson (AL) and Arizona's Corbin Carroll (NL) claimed the hardware.
Nov. 19: BBWAA Manager of the Year Awards
The top manager in each league will be recognized with this annual honor, which is based only on the regular season. Last year, the winners were Brandon Hyde (Orioles) in the AL and Skip Schumaker (Marlins) in the NL.
Nov. 20: BBWAA Cy Young Awards
The Cy Young Award has been given out since 1956. It was awarded to the top overall pitcher in the Majors from 1956-66, but it has been presented to one pitcher in each league since 1967. Last year, the honors went to Gerrit Cole (AL) and Blake Snell (NL).
As for this year, Tarik Skubal and Chris Sale earned the pitching Triple Crown in the AL and NL, respectively, but will that be enough for each to take home their first Cy Young Award?
Nov. 21: BBWAA MVP Awards
Shohei Ohtani is considered the frontrunner to win his third MVP Award in four seasons -- albeit his first in the NL. On the AL side, Aaron Judge likely separated himself from the rest of the pack down the stretch, though it remains to be seen how the voters will evaluate the field in each league.
Nov. 22: Heart & Hustle Awards
This award is presented by the MLB Players Alumni Association and is voted on by alumni as well as active players. It goes to the active player "who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game." Each of the 30 teams has one nominee, and a winner will be selected from that group and announced on MLB Network.
