2017 Jackie Robinson MVDBP Award recipients
The Cubs are proud to announce C&G Construction Supply and TERRA Engineering were named our team's recipients of Major League Baseball's 11th Annual Jackie Robinson Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner (MVDBP) Award. In recognition of the extraordinary contributions of Jackie Robinson, the MVDBP Award recognizes diverse business partners who reflect his character and commitment to excellence and continue to break barriers. These diverse firms won competitive bids as contractors on the 1060 Project and executed outstanding work this offseason.
The Cubs recognized C&G Construction Supply and TERRA Engineering during the 2017 Jackie Robinson Day celebration at Wrigley Field Saturday, April 15. During our Jackie Robinson Day, the Cubs joined MLB in recognizing the anniversary of the Hall of Famer breaking baseball's color barrier as uniformed players and personnel at each ballpark will wear Jackie Robinson's retired No. 42 on their jerseys. A pregame ceremony included a video highlighting Jackie Robinson's career and legacy.
"TERRA Engineering would like to thank the Cubs and the entire design and construction team for the Wrigley 1060 project," said Karen Steingraber, president of TERRA Engineering. "We are proud to be part of a diverse team of people working on the renovation of the most iconic Ballpark in baseball. Jackie Robinson Day is a special event and we are very grateful to be a part of it and look forward to the continued success of the Cubs and the 1060 project."
The Cubs are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce and providing opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses throughout the life of the 1060 Project. Since 2014, Chicago-based management consulting firm Target Group have served as the Cubs' diversity consultant on the 1060 Project and have been tasked with developing, implementing and monitoring the project's diversity and inclusion program in cooperation with Pepper Construction and ICON Venue Group.
