The Yankees stormed through the AL during the regular season and had no problem in the ALDS with the Twins, who needed a 163rd game to beat the Tigers in the AL Central.
Game 2 was the only contest decided by fewer than three runs, as Mark Teixeira delivered a walk-off solo home run in the 11th inning off Minnesota's Jose Mijares. Lefties CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte got wins in Games 1 and 3.
Alex Rodriguez led New York's offense with two home runs and six RBIs, while Michael Cuddyer and Denard Span each had six hits for the Twins.
Path to the ALDS: New York (103-59) won the AL East by eight games; Minnesota (87-76) won the AL Central by one game
