After running away with their respective divisions for the second straight year (the Twins won the West by nine games in 1969 and the Orioles won the East by 19 in '69), Minnesota and Baltimore again met in the 1970 ALCS, with the series kicking off in Bloomington, Minn.

By the end, it was the same result -- a three-game Orioles sweep -- with Baltimore unleashing the big bats in the first two games before taking Game 3 with relative ease.

Boog Powell and Brooks Robinson led the way for the O's with 13 combined hits, five runs, four doubles and seven RBIs in the series. Davey Johnson also homered twice and drove in four. Baltimore had four players with at least 11 at-bats hit .333 or better.

Tony Oliva led the way for the Twins, going 6-for-12 with two runs, two doubles, a home run and an RBI in the series. Harmon Killebrew drove in four.

Path to the ALCS: The Orioles (108-54) won the AL East by 15 games. The Twins (98-64) won the AL West by nine games.
