Players with at least 10 RBIs in a game
More than two decades ago, on Sept. 7, 1993, "Hard Hittin'" Mark Whiten had one of the greatest offensive performances in Major League history.
Not only did Whiten connect for four of the 105 homers he'd hit over his 11-year career, he also tied a 69-year-old record with 12 RBIs in a game, which had been set by fellow Cardinals slugger Jim Bottomley on Sept. 16, 1924.
Teammate Todd Zeile summed up Whiten's performance best a couple days later, telling Sports Illustrated, "You can't even do what he did in batting practice."
While no one has caught Whiten and Bottomley since, a few players have had close calls, including Shohei Ohtani, who had a performance for the ages on Sept. 19, 2024, against the Marlins. Ohtani went 6-for-6 with three homers, two doubles, 10 RBIs and two stolen bases, in the process becoming the first player in MLB history to record a 50-50 campaign.
