WASHINGTON -- As rain came down on a tarp-covered infield, Game 2 of the Nationals' split doubleheader on Friday was postponed until Saturday at 7:05 p.m. ET.

Game 1 on Saturday will be played as originally scheduled at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Right-hander Aníbal Sánchez is slated to pitch Game 1, and righty Tommy Romero -- who was added as the 29th player for the doubleheader -- will pitch Game 2. Romero will be making his Nationals debut after being claimed off waivers from the Rays on Aug. 25 and appearing in six games with Triple-A Rochester.

The Nationals and Phillies completed their afternoon matchup on Friday prior to the rain. The Nats fell, 5-1, to their NL East rival.
