Bios

Dan Kolko is in his 14th season covering the Nationals and his 12th as part of the television broadcast team, hosting the “Nats Xtra” pre- and postgame shows, serving as an on-field reporter and providing play-by-play. Kolko hosted the “Nats Insider” podcast and radio show from 2021 to 2022, in addition to previously hosting his own podcast “Between Innings with Dan Kolko.” He has served as an MLB Network Radio host, called college basketball play-by-play for FOX Sports, and served as an on-field reporter and beat writer for MASN from 2008 to 2018. A native of Silver Spring, Md., Kolko earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Delaware. He and his wife, Aly, live in the Navy Yard area year-round.

Ryan Zimmerman, who earned the nicknames Mr. National and Employee No. 11 for his longevity and impact on the Washington Nationals franchise, spent 17 years in the big leagues and has become the face of a generation of sports enthusiasts in Washington, D.C. A two-time All-Star and 2019 World Series Champion, Zimmerman holds franchise records for games played, hits, home runs, RBIs and runs, among other statistical categories. In 2005, he was the Nationals first-ever draft pick out of the University of Virginia and debuted that same year in the Nationals’ inaugural season in D.C. Off the field, Zimmerman is deeply committed to supporting the community. During his playing career, he received the Jefferson Award for public service and the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award for character and integrity, while also being recognized as the Roberto Clemente Award nominee six times and a Branch Rickey Award nominee for his dedication to the community. Zimmerman has been instrumental in raising awareness and funds in the fight against multiple sclerosis (MS), and he has given back more than $4 million to this cause through his ziMS Foundation. In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic began, he became one of the first professional athletes to raise funds for first responders and healthcare workers through his Pros for Heroes campaign. He continues to use his influence in helping others through a number of initiatives to this day. Residing in McLean, Va., Zimmerman and his wife, Heather, are proud parents of four, and he continues to work with the Nationals organization as a Special Advisor to Ownership.
