Through the Nats on Base initiative, the Nationals aim to provide year-round experiences that contribute to the quality of life for service members and their families in the Washington D.C. region, reaching them where they live and work - as well as in-Park. The team works with regional and base leadership to develop programming and identify outreach opportunities at local installations.
Professional Development
- Leadership Exchange: Nationals front office executives and coaching staff will offer non-military perspectives to service members on a variety of topics, including leadership and specialty fields (security/planning, facilities, field maintenance, etc.)
- Negro Leagues Panel: Rich History, Painful Legacy: The Washington Nationals believe we have a responsibility to address national issues. One way that we can encourage dialogue on race relations is through the context of the rich history and painful legacy of Negro League Baseball.
- Employee Recognitions: The Nationals will align with base recognition programs, provide prizes and recognition for employees of quarter and/or year. Potential prizes would increase in value based on level.
Intramural Support
- Uniform program: The Washington Nationals will provide, at no cost to the teams, a Nationals-branded jersey and cap to each man or woman participating in the base-affiliated softball league. Teams are differentiated through the use of a variety of styles and colors of T-shirts, jerseys and caps.
