As the weather heated up, so did Nick Kurtz.

MLB’s No. 2 Draft prospect entered the final day of March with three homers to his name in 19 games this season. Amidst a slow start, he pulled out a two-homer performance in a series finale with North Carolina and triggered a torrid streak at the dish.

Kurtz powered another two-homer performance two weeks later against Boston College on Sunday. His first long ball -- an opposite field shot in the top of the third inning -- marked his eighth game in his last nine with a home run, dating back to his surge against the Tar Heels.

The 6-foot-5 lefty slugger demolished his second homer of the game in the ninth, taking advantage of center-cut pitch and pulling it to right field. It added two more runs to the Deacons’ lead, as Wake Forest closed out the weekend with a 9-3 victory and series win.

In this nine-game run, Kurtz has homered 13 times in nine games, piling up four multihomer performances. He snapped a seven-game streak with at least one home run Saturday against Boston College, in a game where he went 1-for-3 with his lone triple of the season.

On the year, Kurtz boats a .333 batting average with 16 home runs -- 13 in his last nine games and six shy of tying his career best. His 65-grade power has come alive in the last two weeks, boosting his OPS north of 1.300 on the season.
