Lone Star Slugger: No. 2 Draft prospect LaViolette sets school HR record

March 29th, 2025

Jace LaViolette stands alone atop the home run leaderboard at one of the Lone Star State’s top baseball programs.

The Texas A&M star, MLB Pipeline’s No. 2 Draft prospect and a potential top overall pick in this year’s Draft, set the Aggies’ school home run record with his 57th career blast in Saturday’s game against Kentucky.

After tying Daylan Holt’s record on March 20 against Vanderbilt, LaViolette pulled a solo shot over the right-field fence in Saturday’s first inning off Wildcats starter Nic McCoy. The Aggies school record of 56 had been held by Holt since 2000.

It marked the seventh homer in 26 games this season for LaViolette, who set a program freshman record with 21 homers in 2023 and went deep 29 times last season as he helped lead the Aggies to the Men's College World Series Finals.

LaViolette entered the year considered one of the most talented offensive players in the country and has largely met those expectations. The Pensacola, Fla., native (who attended high school in Texas) entered the day hitting .292 with a .440 on-base-percentage, a 1.013 OPS and 26 RBIs through his first 25 games.
