JUPITER, Fla. -- PJ Morlando, ranked as the Marlins' No. 6 prospect by MLB Pipeline, underwent an ulnar nerve transposition on his left elbow on Wednesday.

The timeline to return to play for Morlando is 8-10 weeks.

Morlando felt discomfort in his non-throwing arm over the weekend and was evaluated by Dr. Keith Meister, who performed the procedure in Texas. The surgery doesn’t involve repairing or reconstructing the elbow rather relocating the nerve to alleviate pressure.

This marks the latest setback for the 19-year-old Morlando, who was selected 16th overall in the 2024 MLB Draft. He recorded just one plate appearance for Single-A Jupiter to begin his professional career before being shut down with a lumbar stress reaction.

Miami will replace Morlando on Friday’s Spring Breakout roster, which showcases the system's top prospects.
