Tribe places Reynolds on release waivers
Veteran infielder has hit two home runs since start of June
The Indians on Monday placed Mark Reynolds on release waivers for the purpose of granting the slugging corner infielder his unconditional release.
Reynolds was designated for assignment on Thursday.
The 30-year-old Reynolds appeared in 99 games with Cleveland this season, batting .215 with 15 homers and 48 RBIs. He hit .301 with eight homers and 22 RBIs in April, then hit five homers in May but has gone deep only twice since the start of June. Reynolds batted .098 in July.
Reynolds has played for the D-backs, Orioles and Indians during his seven-year career.
Reynolds was signed to a one-year deal last offseason.
