After Noel's huge HR, Fry's blast in 10th lifts Guards to dramatic Game 3 win

CLEVELAND -- It was only fitting that Rajai Davis sat in the press box, looking down with a bird’s-eye view of a moment that was so similar to what he experienced eight years ago at Progressive Field.

The upper levels of the ballpark were shaking. The rally towels were flying in the air. Drinks were surely dumped as fans couldn’t fight the instinct to throw their hands above their heads and jump up and down as Big Christmas delivered the best gift Cleveland could’ve asked for: A pinch-hit, game-tying, two-out monster blast in the bottom of the ninth inning. And yet, the fun was only getting started.

After brought life back to a team that had been devastated in the top of the eighth when lights-out closer Emmanuel Clase shockingly gave up back-to-back homers to blow the lead, sent the walk-off two-run homer into the stands in left field that sent Progressive Field into a frenzy. The Guardians’ 7-5 win over the Yankees in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series not only turned momentum back in their favor, but it made sure this team didn’t have to potentially face elimination on Friday.

"When everybody thinks that we can't do it, we think we can," Fry said. "[Manzardo] has a huge homer early. I still don't know how Jhonkensy hit a homer off that guy. That was such a cool at-bat. What a win."

In all best-of-seven postseason series, teams leading 2-1 after three games have gone on to win the series 106 of 151 times (70%). Under the current 2-3-2 format, teams that have won Game 3 at home after losing the first two on the road have come back to win 10 of 36 times (28%).
