Steven Kwan and Alex Cobb, Guardians

After missing four straight games with mid-back inflammation, Kwan was placed on the injured list on Tuesday, retroactive to Saturday. More >

Cobb (right hand blister) is expected to throw a bullpen this week, then will likely begin a rehab assignment after that. More >

Jordan Westburg, Ryan Mountcastle and Ramón Urías, Orioles

Westburg (right hand fracture) took batting practice on Tuesday and is moving closer to game action. General manager Mike Elias expressed optimism on Tuesday that Westburg would rejoin the Orioles before the end of the regular season and stated it was possible he could play rehab games for Triple-A Norfolk before the conclusion of the Tides' season on Sunday.

Mountcastle (left wrist sprain) has been at the team's Spring Training facilities in Sarasota, Fla., in recent days, hitting off a tee while continuing to progress. Elias expressed optimism Mountcastle was close to beginning a Minor League rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk.

Urías (right ankle sprain) worked out at Camden Yards on Tuesday, participating in conditioning drills and running the bases. He is getting close to a return to game action, per Elias. More >

Francisco Lindor, Kodai Senga and Paul Blackburn, Mets

As expected, Lindor (back tightness) was out of the Mets' lineup for a second straight night on Tuesday, though his back was feeling notably improved, per manager Carlos Mendoza. He remains day-to-day.

Following a bullpen session on Tuesday, Mets officials said all options were on the table for Senga (high-grade left calf strain) in the short-term, including another bullpen, a live BP session or even a Minor League game. Team officials will know more in the coming days.

The Mets have shut down Blackburn due to a spinal fluid leak in his mid-back. Team officials are uncertain when Blackburn may be able to pitch again, but president of baseball operations David Stearns cautioned that the injury is not as troubling as it might sound. More >

Sandy Alcantara, Marlins

Alcantara threw 20 pitches of live batting practice and lit up the radar gun at 99 mph on Tuesday afternoon at loanDepot park, while facing hitters for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery on Oct. 6, 2023. More >

Justin Steele, Cubs

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said on Tuesday that Steele (left flexor tendinitis) is scheduled to be activated from the IL on Wednesday, when he will make a start against the A's at Wrigley Field. More >

Victor Robles, Mariners

Robles was removed from Tuesday's game with a right hand contusion suffered when he was hit by a pitch in the first inning. More >

Colt Keith, Tigers

Keith was removed from Tuesday's game after jamming his right shoulder. More >

Daulton Varsho, Blue Jays

Varsho will undergo rotator cuff surgery soon to repair his right shoulder, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Tuesday, which ends his 2024 season. More >

Brandon Williamson, Hunter Greene, Andrew Abbott and Nick Lodolo, Reds

Williamson left Tuesday's start after 1 1/3 innings due to a left elbow strain. More >

Greene (right elbow soreness) threw 52 pitches over three simulated innings on Tuesday, his last step before getting activated from the IL. Manager David Bell did not have a firm schedule for when Greene would get into a game, but all signs pointed to Sunday vs. the Pirates.

Abbott (left shoulder strain) threw his second side bullpen session on Tuesday and is scheduled to have one more before moving on to facing hitters in live batting practice. The club is hoping that Abbott will return for potentially one game before the season ends.

Lodolo (left middle finger sprain), who went on the injured list on Aug. 27, is not going to return to pitch again this season, Bell said on Tuesday. More >

Clayton Kershaw and Austin Barnes Dodgers

Kershaw (bone spur in left big toe) remains unlikely to return during the regular season, but Roberts said Saturday that he could conceivably be activated during a possible postseason run.

Barnes was placed on the injured list on Monday after fracturing his big left toe in Sunday's game. More >

Ozzie Albies, Braves

Albies (left wrist fracture) began a rehab stint with Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, recording two hits and a home run. If all goes well on Tuesday and Wednesday, he will travel to Miami and rejoin Atlanta's lineup for Friday's series opener against the Marlins. More >

Ryne Nelson, Paul Sewald and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., D-backs

Nelson was placed on the 15-day IL on Saturday, retroactive to Wednesday, after experiencing discomfort in his right shoulder during a side session. The injury is not currently thought to be serious, and the D-backs are hopeful that Nelson will be able to return as soon as he is eligible.

Sewald was placed on the 15-day IL on Sunday, retroactive to Thursday, with left neck discomfort.

Gurriel, who exited the D-backs' game on Sept. 1 with tightness in his left calf, had four live at-bats at the team's continuation camp at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale on Tuesday. More >

Payamps left Sunday's game due to right forearm tightness and his status is uncertain. More >

Tanner Houck, Red Sox

Houck, who hasn't pitched since Sept. 4 due to right shoulder fatigue, was supposed to return last Friday at Yankee Stadium, but was scratched less than an hour before first pitch. Red Sox manager Alex Cora is confident Houck will return to start against the Rays on Wednesday, but he was still awaiting official clearance from the training staff. More >

Pete Fairbanks and Jeffrey Springs, Rays

Rays manager Kevin Cash said on Tuesday that Fairbanks (right lat strain) and Springs (left elbow fatigue), both currently on the 15-day injured list, won't return this season despite making progress in their rehab programs. More >
