Full name WILLIAM JOSEPH CUNNANE ... Is a 1992 graduate of Clarkstown North High School in New City, NY ... Played baseball and ran cross country.
1997
Appeared in his first 54 M.L. games for the Padres after being selected in the December 1996 Rule 5 draft ... Went 6-3 with a 5.81 ERA...Made his M.L. debut April 3, working 2.0 scoreless innings against New York...Recorded his first victory May 7 in a 6-3 contest against the Cubs...Earned his first win as a starter May 30 at Houston (9-2) in his first M.L. start...In the contest, he went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI - including a 2-run triple...Went 5-for-14 at the plate...Picked up his first M.L. hit May 19 off Cincinnati's Mike Remlinger.
1998
Spent most of the campaign at Las Vegas (AAA), going 1-2 with a 5.25 ERA in 33 relief outings...Opened the year on the disabled list with a strained right elbow and was out of action until early June...Had a brief stint with the Padres June 22-July 6, pitching in 3 games.
2000
Split his final year in San Diego's organization between the Padres and Las Vegas (AAA)...Went 1-1 in 27 major league contests (3 starts) and 7-4 in 17 Triple-A starts...Had four stints on San Diego's roster...Picked up a victory out of the bullpen April 22 at Houston (8-6)...While pitching for Las Vegas, he earned Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week honors after hurling a complete-game 3-0 shutout of Oklahoma August 18.

Will pitched for both Milwaukee and the Brewers' Indianapolis (AAA) affiliate, appearing in 38 games...Began the season on Milwaukee's big league roster...In 31 games, including 1 start, he went 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA...Started on June 20 at Cincinnati, working 4.0 innings in an 11-3 loss...Was outrighted to Indianapolis August 3 ... went 0-1 with 1 save and a 3.86 ERA in 7 Triple-A outings (3 starts).

Signed as minor league free agent July 2; went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 2 saves in 15 games (21.0 IP, 11 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 19 K) for AAA Richmond...Braves purchased his contract Aug. 6 when Darren Holmes went on DL...First batters were 0 x 19, allowed 1 of 11 inherited runners to score and held opponents to a .189 BA...Converted first and only 3 save opportunities of major league career over 4-game stretch Sept. 7-10...Allowed runs in just 5 of his 20 outings for the Braves...Began season with Cubs' AAA Iowa affiliate; Cubs released him May 12.

Will pitched in 16 games for the Cubs after his contract was purchased from Iowa (AAA) August 9, going 1-1 with a 5.47 ERA...Made his Cubs debut August 12 against Houston, pitching 2.0 scoreless innings and allowing 1 hit...Recorded his first Cubs win August 20 at Houston (14-12)...Worked 3.0 innings on August 31 vs. St. Louis, striking out 5 batters...Also went 1-for-1 at the plate with a single (off Andy Benes), a walk and 2 runs scored...In 43 relief appearances for Iowa, he went 4-1 with 2 saves and a 2.20 ERA in 73.2 innings of work...Pitched a season-high 4.1 innings May 25 vs. Calgary...Had 19 other appearances of at least 2.0 innings...Did not allow a run in his final 14 outings spanning 17.2 innings.

Made 24 relief appearances for the Padres between June 5 and August 24, but spent the remainder of the year at Triple-A Las Vegas, where he dominated the Pacific Coast League...pitched exclusively in relief for the 2nd straight year, making 52 appearances between Triple-A and the major leagues, 2 shy of his 1997 career high with the Padres.
