Wei-Chieh Huang…Born in Taitung, Taiwan, which is located on the southeast part of the island. The area is known for Peinan Cultural Park and Taitung Forest Park....signed with Arizona in 2014 out of National Taiwan University of Physical Education and Sport…signed by Mack Hayashi (ARI).

2022

Went a combined 3-2 with a 3.99 ERA (79.0ip/35er), 101 strikeouts, 1.28 WHIP and .229 batting average against in 27 appearances (16 starts) between Triple-A Sacramento and the Arizona Complex League Giants Orange team (rehab)…Recorded a 3.42 ERA (50.0ip/19er) in 13 starts and 6.65 ERA (21.2ip/16er) in 10 relief appearances with Sacramento…Went 0-2 with a 7.85 ERA (28.2ip/25er) in 12 appearances (two starts) with Sacramento before being placed on the injured list on 6/21…Began a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on 7/11… Went 3-0 with a 2.09 ERA (43.0ip/10er), 48 strikeouts, 1.07 WHIP and .212 batting average against in his final 11 starts with Sacramento after being reinstated from the injured list on 7/30… Was selected by the Pirates from the Giants organization during the first round in the Minor League phase of the Rule Five Draft on 12/7.

2021

Did not pitch in the United States during the Major League regular season... Was supposed to play for Adelaide in the Australian Baseball League but that league also officially canceled its season for a second straight year... Signed with Estrellas of the Dominican Winter League. and pitched in one game for the Orientales in mid-December. 

2020

Was assigned to the Alternate Site with Texas at the start of the shortened season but was released on Aug. 8. He then was going to pitch in the Australian Baseball League for the 2020-21 season with Auckland. However, the Auckland team decided to pull out of the season due to the pandemic.

2019

Had three stints with the Rangers in his 1st ML action (4/23- 24, 4/26-5/4, 5/9-5/14), allowing 5 R-2 ER over 5.2 IP in 4 G, and spent balance of season with Frisco (AA), Nashville (AAA), and the AZL Rangers…recalled from Frisco on 4/23 and made ML debut that night at OAK (2.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R-1 ER)…allowed runs in 3 of 4 ML appearances, all Texas defeats…last Rangers outing was 5/14 at KC (1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R-ER)…missed all of June with a back strain, as he was on the Nashville injured list from 6/5-7/14, which included 2 rehab games in the Arizona League…overall in minors, was 2-2, 4.74 (23 ER/43.2 IP) in 26 G/6 GS with a 1.420 WHIP and 12.6 SO/9…marked 1st time in his career to pitch above the Double-A level.

2018

Combined for a 7-3 record and 3.33 ERA (29 ER/78.1 IP) over 38 G/2 GS in the minors last season, setting career bests for games, innings, strikeouts (103), and SO/9 (11.8)…produced a 1.136 WHIP, finished 6 games, and recorded one save…for the year, held opponents to a slash line of .206/.295/.340/.635…lefties hit just .194 with one home run and a .577 OPS…opposition was 17-for-19 in steal attempts…opened the year with Visalia (High-A)…allowed 4 runs in each of his first 2 outings to begin the year, then compiled a 1.11 ERA (7 ER/56.2 IP) with a
.165/.248/.216/.464 opponent slash line in his last 27 app. in ARI system beginning 4/12…promoted to Jackson on 6/21 for 1st career Double-A action…following the trade, allowed multiple runs in 6 of his 9 outings with Frisco (AA), permitting 5 HR in 20.0 IP (2.25 HR/9) despite 25 SO…was added to Rangers' 40-man roster, 11/20.
