Theriot made 30 starts at second base, and finished strong, batting .386 with 16 runs over his last 12 games of the season. On Sept. 17 against Cincinnati, he hit two home runs. Theriot spent most of the season at Triple-A Iowa, where he hit .304 in 73 games, with 11 doubles and five triples.
2005
Ryan saw his first major league action, appearing in nine games after his contract was selected from West Tenn (AA) September 12...made his major league debut September 13 against Cincinnati, entering the game in the 10th inning as a pinch hitter...recorded his first major league hit the next day, tagging Cincinnati's Brian Shackelford for a pinch-infield single...saw his first defensive action September 21 at Milwaukee...entered the game as a pinch runner in the ninth inning and remained in at second base...spent the majority of the season at West Tenn (AA), batting .304 with 28 doubles and 24 stolen bases - was named the team's most valuable player at the end of the season...struck out 38 times in 448 at-bats (once every 11.8 at-bats) and grounded into just 9 double plays...had 32 multi-hit games, including 13 three-hit and 2 four-hit contests...had a season-high 10 game hitting streak June 1-14, going 16-for-38 (.421) with 1 home run, 4 RBI and 2 stolen bases over the stretch.

Played in 103 games for Daytona (A), batting .273 with 14 doubles and 34 RBI...helped the Cubs to a split of the Florida State League Championship vs. Tampa that was canceled due to Hurricane Charlie...played his best baseball in August batting .339 (19-56) with four doubles and eight RBI.
