Patrick James Higgins...in 2012 graduated from Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, Conn....from 2013-2015 attended Old Dominion University, where with a .335 batting average as a junior he led the team and ranked seventh in the Conference USA...that season was second team all-conference.

2023

Spent the season at the Class AAA affiliates of the Diamondbacks and Cubs...In 90 appearances for Reno and Iowa hit .305 with an .858 OPS (24 2b, 1 3b, 11hr, 67rbi)...Was acquired by the Cubs for a player to be named or cash (cash), July 15, 2023...Following the season became a Minor League free agent...On 11/13 was signed by the Reds to a Minor League contract and invited to 2024 Major League Spring Training camp.

2022

Appeared in 74 games with the Cubs, hitting .229 (46-for-201) with 11 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 30 RBI... Homered in consecutive games on May 30 and 31 vs. Brewers for the first two home runs of his Major League career (both off Trevor Kelley)... Recorded his first walk-off hit on July 6 @ Milwaukee (2B off Josh Hader)... Hit his first career grand slam on July 10 @ Angels... Batted .417 (30-for-72) with 8 doubles, one home run and 17 RBI in 22 games with Triple-A Iowa.

2021

Made his major league debut in 2021, appearing in nine games for the Cubs before being placed on the injured list on June 11 with a strained right forearm, missing the rest of the season... Had his contract selected from Triple-A Iowa on May 19 and made his major league debut that day vs. Washington... Made five starts at catcher with the Cubs, going 5-0 in those games... Cubs pitchers owned a 1.76 ERA (9 ER/46.0 IP) with P.J. behind the plate... Notched his first career major league hit, a single, on June 2 vs. San Diego off Austin Adams... Hit .333 (13-for-39) with two doubles, one triple, one homer and six RBI in 11 games for the I-Cubs.

P.J. spent the season at the club's South Bend Alternate Site.

2019

P.J. advanced to the Triple-A level for the first time ... spent the majority of the season with Double-A Tennessee, earning mid-season All-Star honors as he batted .276 (74-for-268) with 10 doubles, five homers and 38 RBI in 72 games ... was promoted to Iowa, July 11 ... In 36 games with Iowa, batted .291 (34-for-117) with eight doubles, five homers, 19 RBI and a .521 slugging mark ... batted .329 (23-for-70) in his final 23 games beginning August 1 ... Between Tennessee and Iowa, threw out 23 runners attempting to steal (23-of-56/.411).

2018

P.J. advanced to the Double-A level for the first time ... batted a combined .271 (102-for-377) with 22 doubles, one triple and four homers in 110 games between Single-A Myrtle Beach and Double-A Tennessee ... Began the season with the Pelicans, batting .289 (67-for-232) with 17 doubles, three homers and 37 RBI in 69 games ... went 16-for-33 in his first nine games to begin July ... Was promoted to Tennessee, July 11 ... batted .241 (35-for-145) with five doubles, one triple and one homer in 41 games with the Smokies.

2017

Spent the entire season with Single-A Myrtle Beach, batting .237 (81-for-342) with nine doubles, four homers and 23 RBI in 98 games.

2016

In his first full season in the minors, he spent the entire season with Single-A South Bend ... batted .283 (126-for-445) with 30 doubles, 40 RBI and a team-high 72 walks, contributing to a .389 OBP ... the 72 walks were tied for second-most in the Midwest League and his .389 OBP ranked third ... Finished the season with five-straight multi-hit games and a seven-game hitting streak.

2015

Combined to bat .299 (41-for-137) with eight doubles, three triples, two homers and 15 RBI in 36 games between rookie league Mesa and Single-A Eugene ... hit .316 (18-for-57) in 15 games with Eugene.
