Nick resides in Corpus Christi, Texas...Loftin attended Baylor University from 2018-20, where he was a Freshman All-American in 2018 and an All-Big 12 First-Team selection in 2019...He was named a preseason All-American by three different publications in 2020 before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic...Loftin played for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod League in 2019...Spent most of his freshman year in the outfield but moved to shortstop his final two seasons...he finished his collegiate career slashing .313/.371/.481 (161-for-514) in 122 games with 34 doubles, five triples, 14 homers and 92 RBI...He graduated in 2017 from W.B. Made his Majors debut on Sept. 1 vs. Boston and walked in his first plate appearance before recording his first career hit with an RBI double in the third…added a single in the sixth, joining Johnny Giavotella (2011) as the only Royals with at least two hits and a walk in their MLB debut...Over his first four career games from Sept. 1-5, he made starts at designated hitter, second base, third base and first base, becoming the first player in Royals history to make his first four starts at different defensive positions, according to Elias...He’s one of eight Royals to record at least 20 hits and 10 RBI through 19 career games, marks that were most recently reached by Eric Hosmer in 2011...Recorded multiple hits in seven of his first 19 career games (36.8%), including three straight from Sept. 17-20... Loftin played in 128 games in 2022, split between Double-A Northwest Arkansas (90 games) and Triple-A Omaha (38) and recorded career highs in runs (104), doubles (24), home runs (17), RBI (66) and stolen bases (29)…his 104 runs tied for sixth most in Minor League Baseball...He made starts in center field (62), third base (27), DH (7) and left field (six)...With the Naturals, he recorded 30 extra-base hits in 90 games while going 24-for-28 in stolen base attempts...Led Northwest Arkansas in runs and sac. bunts (six) while finishing second in stolen bases and fourth in total bases (153) despite earning a promotion to Triple-A on Aug. 9, where he hit seven doubles and five home runs in 38 games to finish the season.

Nick Loftin spent 2021 with High-A Quad Cities, where he played in 90 games and slashed .289/.373/.463 (103-for-356) with 22 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs, 57 RBI and 42 walks, en route to being named a MiLB.com Organization All-Star...His .289 average ranked tied for fourth among Royals farmhands with Michael Massey and tied for the best in the High-A Central division with Massey and Beloit’s Troy Johnston (Miami)...He was named the High-A Central Player of the Week for July 26-Aug. 1 after posting a slash line of .522/.560/1.087 (12-for-23) with eight runs scored, seven extra-base hits, 4 RBI and one stolen base in 5 games...Entered 2021 as the No. 8 prospect in the Royals’ minor league system, according to Baseball America...also listed as having the “Best Strike-Zone Discipline” among Royals prospects in Baseball America’s 2021 Best Tools survey.
