Nicholas Anthony Green...graduated from Duluth High School (GA) in 1997, earning all-county honors in both baseball and basketball; he was later inducted into the school's Hall of Fame...went on to play baseball at Georgia Perimeter College...he has a twin brother, Kevin, who previously played in the Braves' organization.
2011
Split season between Baltimore's triple-A affiliate in Norfolk and Rangers' triple-A squad in Round Rock. Combined to hit .235 (107x455) with 31 doubles, 12 home runs and 63 RBI...Played in 87 games with Tides, appearing at second base, third base, shortstop, left field, center field and right field; also had 23 at-bats as designated hitter...On July 8 at Durham, went 3x6 with two home runs and season-high seven RBI...Traded to Texas on July 19, reporting to triple-A Round Rock...Tallied at least one hit in 16 of first 17 games and 26 of first 28 with Express. Owned hit streaks of seven, eight and nine games during stretch...Recorded a season-high four hits on September 2 vs. Albuquerque.
2010
Began the season with the Dodgers, appearing in five games before being released June 16...Was signed by Toronto and appeared in nine games, batting .154, before being granted free agency on July 17...Signed as a free agent by the San Diego Padres on July 24...Appeared in 40 games for Triple-A Portland, batting .264 (38-144) with two homers and 21 RBI

Played in 104 games for the Boston Red Sox, batting .236 while establishing career highs in home runs (six), RBI (35) and doubles (18)...Hit .280 with runners in scoring position while posting a .359 mark (14-for-39) with runners in scoring position and two outs (seventh-best, AL)...Originally signed to a minor-league deal with an invite to Spring Training...made Boston's Opening Day roster and started 74 games at shortstop...Also saw action at third base, second base, left field and pitcher, tossing 2.0 innings of scoreless relief in a blowout Boston loss on Aug. 27...only Dodger broadcaster Steve Lyons (1991) and Jack Rothrock (1928) appeared in more games at those positions for the Red Sox in the club's history...Became first Boston position player since Eddie Lake in 1944 to go at least 2.0 hitless innings...Cracked a solo walk-off home run on June 21 at Fenway Park off Atlanta's Jeff Bennett...Injured his right leg and didn't appear in a game after Sept. 16...Following the season, was named the recipient of the 2009 Jackie Jensen Spirit Award, which is given annually by the Boston chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America to the player who shows the most "spirit and determination" during the year.

Played the entire season for Triple-A Yankees affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, his first full season in the minor leagues since 2003...Hit .233 (91-for-391) with 12 homers and 50 RBI...Played shortstop (63 games), second base (33), third base (6), and the outfield (8)...Twice homered in back-to-back games, April 11-12 and June 17-19...Hit .352 (44-for-125) with 6 home runs against lefthanders compared to .177 (47-for-266) with 6 long balls vs. righties...Batted .310 (22-for-71) with 4 homers and 14 RBI during 20 August games, his best monthly marks of the season...Hit .364 (20-for-55) over his final 15 games of the year, including a .406 (13-for-32) mark with 2 home runs and multiple hits in 5 of his last 9 contests...Went 7-for-19 (.368) with one RBI in 6 playoff games before hitting the disabled list on September 11.

Spent time with the Mariners, Seattle's Triple-A Tacoma club and Pittsburgh's Triple-A Indianapolis club...With Indianapolis, hit .245 with 5 home runs and 20 RBI in 26 games before being traded to Seattle on June 18...Was assigned to Tacoma and batted .337 (96-for-285) with 16 home runs and 46 RBI in 66 games...Was promoted to Seattle on September 4 and did not record a hit in 7 at-bats over 6 games.

Began the year with Tampa Bay, batting .077 (3-for-39) in 17 games before being designated for assignment on May 5...Played 10 games with Triple-A Durham before being acquired by the Yankees on May 25...Batted .231 (9-for-39) in 11 games with Triple- A Columbus before having his contract purchased by the Yankees on June 6...Was designated for assignment on June 15 but was purchased again on June 27 and finished the year with New York...Overall, played in 46 games with the Yankees, batting .240 (18-for- 75) with 2 homers and 4 RBI.

His first full season at the major league level he played in 108 games for Tampa Bay with 94 starts (83 at 2B, 11 at 3B)...also saw action as a defensive replacement in RF in one game (April 26 at Toronto)...Started just 9 games in April, mostly at 3rd base, before becoming the everyday second baseman beginning in May...over the next three months thru July he started 65 of 82 games...started just 20 games over the season's final two months (58 games)...Was batting .312 through May 29...hit .205 the rest of the way (41-200) to finish at .239...At the All-Star Break: .266 (57-214), 10-2B, 2-3B, 5-HR, 25-RBI, 14 multi-hit games...After the All-Star Break: .183 (19-104), 5-2B, 0-3B, 0-HR, 4-RBI, 3 multi-hit games...Led the team with 10 sacrifice bunts, tied for 5th in the AL and two off the club record (12 by Felix Martinez in 2000)...Was hit by a pitch 11 times, 2nd on the team to Jonny Gomes' club-record 14...His first hit as a Devil Ray was a 10th-inning RBI single on April 8 off Juan Cruz that gave the Rays the 3-2 "walk-off" win over Oakland...His 5 HR were two more than he had all of 2004 with Atlanta...last, though, was July 8 vs. Detroit (Doug Creek)...On April 24 vs. Boston, he hit his first HR as a Ray (off Bronson Arroyo)...On June 22 at Yankee Stadium, his 2-out, three-run homer off Carl Pavano in the 7th gave the Rays a 5-3 win...His 2-run single with the bases loaded May 12 at Kansas City snapped the club's season-long 0-for-20 skid with the bases loaded...Hit much better against LH pitching (.292) than righties (.216)...Acquired by the Rays from the Braves on March 31 in exchange for RHP Jorge Sosa.
2004
Batted .377 in 22 games at Richmond (AAA) before his call up...Made his ML debut 5/15 at MIL, replacing Marcus Giles at second base. Got his first career hit and RBI in the fifth inning off MIL's Brooks Kieschnick...Had a career-high seven-game hitting streak snapped 5/26 at MON...Hit first career homer off MON's Livan Hernandez on 5/31...Had the game-tying sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning and a three-run walkoff homer in the bottom of the 12th inning vs. BOS on 7/2...Had his third career three-hit game (3-for-4, RBI) 7/29 at PIT...Made first career appearance in RF in the 9th inning on 8/15 vs. STL...Went 2-for-5 with two runs scored on 8/30 vs. SF. 2004 POSTSEASON HIGHLIGHTS: Division Series (Hou.): Appeared in two games as a pinch runner.

Opened the 2002 season at extended spring training...joined Greenville (AA) April 23 and remained on G-Braves roster for remainder of the season...Led team with 15 HR...Hit 5 HR over a 9-game stretch July 12-20.

Had a season-high 8 game hitting streak at Class AMyrtle Beach 6/1-8 11 x 29 (.379), 4 home runs, 6 RBI, 8 runs)... Left the game in the bottom of the 6th inning on July 15 @ WS with a sprained left knee sustained on fielding play...Was placed on the disabled list on July 16...MRI revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He missed the remainder of the 2001 season...Was promoted to AAA Richmond on July 7 and returned on July 9. Went 1x5 with a RBI in two games...Hit 2 HR on June 14 vs. Fremont...Also hit 2 home runs on June 7 vs. Sal...Tied a team record with 4 singles in game on May 27 at Winston-Salem.
2000
Began season with Class A Macon, where he hit .245 in 91 games...Hit safely in 16 of first 19 games (21 x 67, .313)...Belted 3 homers in 4-game span June 18-24...Promoted to Class A Myrtle Beach July 20...Tied team record with steals in one game, Aug. 2 vs. Potomac.
1999
Led Jamestown in average and doubles. Second on the Jammers in home runs and RBI. Also finished second on Jamestown with 14 stolen bases in 18 attempts. Earned September promotion to Macon.
