It was a whirlwind year for Garcia after being released by the Indians at the end of spring training after hitting .323 (10-31) in 14 spring games...Was released by the Indians on March 27 and signed a free agent minor league deal with the New York Yankees on April 1 and began the season at AAA Columbus of the International League...Started the season hot in Columbus, hitting .330 (33-100) in April with 2HR & 13 RBI before hitting .168 (17-101) in May...Was hitting .322 (28-87) in 23 June games w/6 HR and 19 RBI before being promoted to New York on June 28...Appeared in 2 games with the Yankees (1PH, 1 start in LF), going 1 for 5 before being designated for assignment on July 3 when Raul Mondesi was acquired from Toronto by the Yankees...Signed a minor league deal with the Indians on July 13 after his release from New York and appeared in 23 games with the Bisons, hitting safely in his last 19 straight contests from July 16 to August 4 before being promoted to Cleveland on August 6...Was red-hot at Buffalo, hitting .396 (36-91) with 7 2B, 2 3B, 3HR and 22 RBI in 23 games (20G in CF, 5G @DH)...Made 1 start in left field on August 6 and switched positions with Matt Lawton the next day and was the clubbs regular right fielder thru the remainder of the season...Was very productive with the Tribe, collecting a major league best 52 RBI in his tenure from August 6th thru the end of the season...Had some big games, collecting a career-high 6RBI on 9/2 at Detroit (2-5, 2HR) and hitting 2 grand slams on August 13 at Tampa Bay (off Sturtze) and on Sept. 5 at Chicago (Porzio)...Now has 3 career grand slams...His 2-homer game on Sept. 2 at Detroit was the fourth of his career...Hit a walk-off game-winning homer on August 24 vs. Seattle in the 9th inning off lefty Doug Creek...Overall he made 46 starts in RF (49G), 2 starts in CF (3G) and 1 start/appearance in leftfield...Cooled off at the end of the year, hitting. 212 (11-52) over the season's final 14 games (3HR, 5RBI)...On the year between AAA Columbus, Buffalo and Cleveland he drove in 123 runs (31 HR)...At AAA w/Buffalo & Columbus he hit a combined .367 (40-109) with RISP and .315 (94-298) off RHP...Between Columbus, Buffalo & Cleveland he drove in 123 runs on the year...Played winter ball in Mexico starting in November...Most RBI from August 6 to end of the season.
