Taylor attended Georgia College and State University in 2014 and Scottsdale Community College from 2012-13, when he led the Artichokes to the National Junior College World Series both seasons...He graduated in 2011 from Centennial HS (Ariz.), where he won the team’s Cy Young Award three times and was named MVP once.

Began the 2023 season with Triple-A Omaha and was recalled on April 16…his Royals debut came that night vs. Atlanta to mark his first Major League appearance since Sept. 22, 2021 with Boston, 571 days prior...The HR he allowed to Christian Yelich on May 13 was his first allowed to a left-handed batter since Rowdy Tellez took him deep on Sept. 10, 2019—four years prior—snapping a stretch of 110 at-bats in 76 appearances...He suffered left shoulder impingement syndrome on May 27 and missed the last 109 games of the year.

Taylor missed the entire 2022 season due to a low back strain…he did not pitch in Spring Training, and was placed on the 15-day IL on April 4, then transferred to the 60-day IL on May 12....He went on two rehab assignments, the first from April 17-27 and the second from June 21-July 12…he made 13 appearances (7) starts and allowed 10 runs (8 ER) on 20 hits in 12.0 innings.

Made his first career Opening Day roster and set career highs in appearances (61) and innings (47.2)...Missed 16 games due to three IL stints... Allowed one XBH to his 90 LHH faced (double), holding them to a .146 AVG/.381 OPS (12-for-82, 7 BB, 28 SO).....After the All-Star break, allowed only one hit (single) to his 36 lefties faced (1-for-30, 6 BB, 10 SO)... Set the Red Sox franchise record for most consecutive scoreless appearances by a LHP (26), the 2nd-longest streak ever by any Sox pitcher...
