Jonny recalls attending games at Dodger Stadium and watching a young Clayton Kershaw pitch while growing up in Southern California…when Jonny first entered the Dodgers clubhouse prior to his major league debut last June, Kershaw was the first person he saw and spoke with upon entering the clubhouse...During his time in the Dodgers farm system, he earned the nickname “Quadzilla” for his impressive lower body strength...When the minor league season was cancelled in 2020, Jonny used the unexpected free time to work with private hitting coaches Craig Wallenbrock and Doug Latta…the latter helped adjust his mechanics to unlock more power in his swing, allowing him go from five homers during his final collegiate season in 2019 to 22 in his first full professional season in 2021...Jonny sports an earring on his left ear…when he was struggling at Class-A Great Lakes in 2022, he told hitting coach Dylan Nasiatka that if he didn’t win a player of the week award in the upcoming week, he would pierce one of his ears…after getting the piercing, he hit .455 (20-for-44) over his next 12 games, winning back-to-back Midwest League Player of the Week honors to earn a promotion to Double-A...Some of Jonny’s favorite hobbies include surfing, snorkeling, biking, golfing and playing the guitar....Selected by the Dodgers in the 25th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft following two seasons at the University of Oregon...Started all of the team’s 111 games during his time at Oregon, 110 of which came in center field…earned a Pac-12 All-Defensive Team honorable mention after posting a .979 fielding percentage, committing only three errors in 141 total chances…set an Oregon freshman record with six home runs, tied for the team lead...Originally selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 39th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of Agoura (Ca.) Divided his time between Single-A Rancho Cucamonga (57 G) and Advanced-A Great Lakes (44 G), making the move on July 22...With Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, he slashed .287/.376/.519 with a .967 OPS in 223 at-bats over 57 games...Was awarded California League Player of the Week for the week of July 11…in July he smashed a .393 batting average, going 11-for-28 and slashing .393/.485/.929 with 11 RBI...With Advanced-A Great Lakes, went 38-for-164 for a .232 average over 44 games…totaled six doubles, seven home runs, and 21 RBI with seven stolen bases and 15 extra base hits...Spent time across the outfield, combining for 38 games in center field, 36 games in right field, and 27 games in left field for both teams…committed no errors over 80 total chances in center Went 3-for-5 including two home runs and four RBI on July 8 vs. Lake Elsinore…hit .313 (21-for-67) with runners in scoring position with Rancho Cucamonga…clubbed .265 (18-for-68) against lefties with Rancho Cucamonga and .297 against righties (46-for-155).
