in game eventually won by Washington, 7-6...walked 2 and fanned one (Ryan Howard for first MLB strikeout) before
becoming just the 5th player in MLB history to be ejected in a Major League debut...was joined on this list by CIN's
Aaron Boone (June 20, 1997 for throwing helmet after being thrown out at home plate on single), OAK's Doug Johns
(July 8, 1995 for throwing at a batter), MIL's Sid Roberson (May 20, 1995 for throwing at a batter after a warning) and
PHI's Andy Carter (May 3, 1994 for hitting 2 of 3 batters faced)...was ejected by HP-umpire Hunter Wendelstedt after
hitting Howard in the 5th (one offering after hitting Chase Utley with a pitch)...the ejection was heavily scrutinized,
however, as it came with the Nationals trailing by only one run and, per Washington's contention, was simply due to
a case of wildness (was ahead in the count, 0-2, to Utley)...Wendelstedt informed the Nationals that he was throwing
at Howard, who had homered in his previous plate appearance...pitched well and received substantial run support
to grab first big league win in a 7-2 victory, August 1 vs. CIN...went 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits...walked
