Jason William Wood...graduated from McLane (CA) High School...attended Fresno State University, and led school to 1991 Big West title with .343 average...was college teammates with pitcher Bobby Jones and outfielder Brant Brown...he and his wife, Sissy, have three daughters: Francesca (12/14/02), Daniela (6/18/03), and Gemma (11/23/05).

Spent entire season with Albuquerque (AAA), where he batted .245 with eight home runs and 49 RBI in 102 games... recorded 92 hits, including 21 doubles and two triples... missed time with two stints on Disabled List... was on DL from April 8-26 with rib cage strain... went on DL again from May 1-13 with rib cage strain.

Played in 128 games with Albuquerque (AAA), named the team MVP for the second consecutive season as he hit .296 with 26 doubles, four triples, 16 homers and a team-leading 83 RBI... the homers, games, at-bats (473) and doubles were second on the team... posted 36 multi-hit games, including two four-hit games: April 28 vs. Iowa and July 22 vs. New Orleans... overall, recorded 16 multiple RBI games... after hitting .205 in the season's first month, collected hits in 59 of his next 72 games (batting .351 over that span) and was batting .314 on July 24, following that stretch... included a 14-game stretch from July 7-24, when he hit .442 (23x52) with eight multi-hit efforts... saw his season average drop from .314 to .296 over his final 32 games by hitting .246 (31x126) over those contests... had a season-best 11-game hit streak, from June 12-27, batting .409 (18x44) with 12 RBI over that span... collected five home runs over a seven-game stretch, from May 28-June 2... included his first two-homer game of the year: May 29 (G1 of DH) vs. Colorado Springs... had four homers over his first 48 games... appeared in all four post-season games with the Isotopes, hitting .438 (7x16) with a homer and three RBI... hit .179 with four RBI in 15 games for Hermosillo in the Mexican League during the offseason.

Was named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team and was a PCL Post-season All-Star selection at third base, as he hit a career-best .315 (8th in PCL) in 121 games with Calgary (AAA)... set a career high with 37 doubles (5th in PCL) and added 15 homers and 70 RBI... hit over .300 in four of the season's five full months, including .329 in April, .307 in May, .339 in June and .307 in July... combined for a .293 average in 26 contests in August and September... was the Marlins' Organizational Player for the month of June... hit two home runs and collected three RBI in a 2x5 contest on August 18 at Portland... recorded a season-best four hits on June 9 at Tacoma.

Spent the entire campaign with Nashville (AAA) and hit .243 with 19 doubles, one triple, eight home runs and 38 RBI in 113 games (100 starts)... ranked among team leaders in runs scored (5th), doubles (4th), walks (5th), hit by pitches (tied for 2nd), sacrifice bunts (tied for 2nd), strikeouts (4th), at-bats (3rd), and games played (2nd)... started 68 games at third base, 29 at shortstop, two at second base and one at first base... clubbed a two-run homer and posted season-high three hits on May 29 vs. New Orleans... homered in three straight contests, May 29-June 1, and hit safely in a season-best 13 straight games (.380, 19x50), from May 21-June 10, to raise his average to .277... hit .213 (43x202) in 62 games after the streak ended to finish at .243... went 3x5 with a homer and season-high three RBI on July 2 at Tucson.
2000
Played in 88 games with Nashville (AAA), missing nearly two months during two stints on the DL... hit .237 with seven homers and 45 RBI and appeared at every infield position and DH ... played three games before injuring his left hamstring on April 8 at Omaha ... placed on the DL from April 9-May 2... re-injured his leg in his first game back (May 4 at Edmonton) and spent nearly a month on the DL (May 4-29)... smacked two home runs and posted a team-high six RBI on June 9 at Colorado Springs... blasted a grand slam in the top of the second and added a two-run shot in the third... posted a team-high 15-game hitting streak, July 7-24 (.315, 17x54) ... hit only .189 (21x111) over his final 34 games.
