Spent his 3rd season in Giants uniform, but saw limited action for 3rd-consecutive year due to injuries ... Appeared in just 60 games, batting .289 (69-for-239) with 3 HRs and 24 RBI ... Was Giants' Opening Day 2nd baseman and played well for 1st 2 1/2 months before suffering season-ending injury on June 10 in which he dislocated his right shoulder (throwing shoulder) after making diving stop on ground ball in 5th inning during Giants-Reds game at AT&T Park... MRI exam showed that he damaged his labrum and stretched out his shoulder capsule...rested his arm in sling for several weeks ... Was placed on 15-day DL June 11 and was transferred to 60-day DL on July 19 ... Tried to rehab his shoulder and didn't have any issues hitting...however, when he tried to stretch out throws to 60 feet and beyond, felt pain and had no velocity on ball...decided to have surgery on Aug. 2 to repair labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder...Dr. Gary Waslewski performed surgery in Arizona.
