Full name CHRISTOPHER THOMAS RAY...Wife, Alice...Daughter, Virginia...Pitched at The College of William & Mary...Graduate of Hillsborough High School in Tampa, FL...Selected by Baltimore in the 3rd round (74th overall) in the 2003 June draft, making him the highest drafted player in W&M history at the time.
2011
Spent the season with the Seattle Mariners after making the club as a non-roster invitee out of spring training...Season got off to a shaky start (6.60ERA over first 14 outings) but rebounded over his last 15 outings from June 7 until going on the DL on July 30 (strained latisimus dorsi) and released on August 15 after the Mariners added several players to their roster via trade...Tied season high with 2.0 innings pitched July 7 at LAA (3rd time)...Was 1-0, 1.17 (7.2 IP, 1 ER) in 7 games in May, and 1-1, 2.16 in 8 games in June (8.1 IP, 2 ER)...Allowed 5ER in 0.2IP on April 13 vs. Toronto that represented nearly a third of his ER allowed for the year...ERA over last 6 outings prior to injury was 1.23 (7.1IP, 4H, 1ER)... LHH batters .308 and RHH batted just .243...Limited hitters to a .231 (15-65) mark with runners on base.

Began year with Texas Rangers, but was traded to Giants July 1 in exchange for C Bengie Molina and minor league RHP Michael Main...overall, went 5-0 with 3.72 ERA (23 ER, 55.2 IP) in 63 games with Rangers and Giants...was 3-0 with 4.13 ERA (11 ER, 24.0 IP) in 28 outings with San Francisco, holding opponents scoreless in 21 of 28 appearances... made Giants debut July 2 at Colorado...earned first National League save July 30 vs. Los Angeles...on the 15-day disabled list Aug. 18-Sept. 3 with a right intercostal strain...left off the postseason roster in each of the three rounds...was 2-0 with 3.41 ERA (12 ER, 31.2 IP) with one save in 35 relief appearances for Texas.

Spent the bulk of his season with Baltimore, going 0-4 with a 7.27 ERA (35 ER/43.1 IP) in 46 relief appearances...compiled 39 strikeouts, averaging 8.1-per-9.0 IP...also issued 23 walks...was with the big league club from Opening Day through May 27 and from June 23 through the end of the season...allowed at least one hit in 33-of-46 appearances...had a 9.28 ERA (22 ER/21.1 IP) in the first 'half', but a 5.32 ERA (13 ER/22.0 IP) following the All-Star break...after being recalled on June 23, he made 6 appearances before landing on the disabled list from July 6-31 with right biceps tendinitis...allowed just one earned run in 18.0 IP over 15-game stretch from June 29-Aug. 27, lowering his season ERA from 10.24 to 5.54...compiled a 4.88 ERA (13 ER/24.0 IP) over his final 26 outings beginning June 29...posted a 2.12 ERA (4 ER/17.0 IP) over 13 games in August...worked 2.2 scoreless innings on Aug. 4 at Detroit, marking the longest outing of his major league career...held A.L. Tied for the 7th highest single-season save total in Orioles history in his first season as closer, notching 33 saves in 38 opportunities...Became the 7th different pitcher to earn 30 or more saves in a season for the Orioles...Held opposing batters to a .193 average (45-233), the 5th lowest among American League relievers...
