Nickname is "Arnie"...wife's name is Laura...the couple has one son, Brandon Aaron...is a 1991 graduate of Villa Park (CA) High...while at Villa Park, played baseball, basketball and football...was drafted by the Angels in 1991, but did not sign... instead, played collegiately at the University of Southern California...hit .308 during three seasons at USC...is the son of former big league player and manager Bob Boone, who is currently the Nationals Assistant General Manager and Vice President of Player Development...is the younger brother of Bret Boone, who has hit .266 with 252 homers and 1021 RBI in 14 big league seasons with SEA, CIN, ATL, SDP and MIN...grandfather, Ray, played in 1373 big league games for CLE, DET, CWS, KCA, MIL and BOS from 1948-60...was the 2005 recipient of the Gibbons/Olin "Good Guy Award" presented by the Cleveland BBWAA Chapter for a professional and courteous manner with the media.

2008

Went 8x34 with three doubles, one home run and six RBI as pinch hitter...made 49 starts, all at either first base or third base, and hit .258 (48x186) with 10 doubles, one triple, five homers and 21 RBI as a starter...appeared defensively at first base (54), third base (16) and second base (1)...made just two errors in 358 total chances...notched first career pinch-hit homer, May 6 at HOU off Shawn Chacon...recorded 1,000th career hit June 25 vs. LAA, becoming the fourth member of his family to reach the 1,000-hit plateau in majors, along with grandfather Ray (1,260), father Bob (1,838) and brother Bret (1,775)... appeared in four rehab games while on DL with a left calf strain...played in one game with the GCL Nationals and in three games with Columbus (AAA).

Played his second season with the Indians... batted .251 with seven home runs and 46 RBI in 104 games...Enjoyed his ninth career four-hit game, a season-high, on April 4 at Chicago (AL) and also collected a season-high four RBI in the contest...on the year, he made 97 starts at third base (101 games) and compiled a fielding percentage of .938 (258 TC, 16 E)...made a career-high three errors on July 5 vs. New York (AL)... appeared in one game at second base (August 10)...Equaled career high with a nine-game hitting streak from June 30 to July 9 (sixth time)... hit .297 (38x128) in 36 starts batting ninth in the order... best month was May (.313, 25x80, 5 2B, 6 RBI)... hit .345 (20x58) with RISP and two outs, and .292 (33x113) from the seventh inning on.

During two stints with the Reds appeared in 58 games, including 49 starts at 3B, second on the club to Willie Greene's 69 starts at third...Began the season at CIN and went 1-10 in 9 games and 1 start before he was optioned to Indianapolis on 4/24...Hit .325 in his last 18G at Indy, until he was promoted again on 7/31 following an injury to Pokey Reese...On 7/31 became the Reds' starting third baseman and the rest of the season hit .292 in 49 games and 48 starts...Hit his first Major League HR on 8/26 vs. Cubs off Kerry Wood...Hit his other homer on the last day of the season, a 3-run shot off PIT's Jose Silva in the sixth inning that snapped a 1-1 tie in the 4-1 victory.

1999

Batted .280 (132-for-472) with 14HR and 72RBI in 139 games...Led the club with 129 starts at 3B...Began the season with the Reds and hit .218 with 1HR and 3RBI in 21 games before he was optioned to Indianapolis on 5/12 to make room on the roster for LHP Ron Villone...In 11 games at Indy hit .341 before he returned on 5/ 25, when LHP Denny Neagle went on the disabled list...Opened the season as the Reds' starting third baseman...Put together his best streak of the season in a 24-game span from 8/20-9/11, when he had 8HR and 31RBI, including his first career grand slam (8/21 vs. Montreal off Thurman) and his first career 2-HR game (9/ 7 at Cubs in Game 2 off McNichol and Sanders)...Eddie Taubensee also hit grand slam that 8/21 game as the Reds tied a Major League single-game record...On 9/1 vs. Atlanta combined with Bret Boone to become the first brothers on opposing teams to homer in the same game since Houston's Jose Cruz Sr. and Chicago's Hector Cruz on 5/4/81 at Wrigley Field...On 9/4 at PHI was 1 of 8 Reds players to hit 9 HR, establishing the NL record for homers in a game and the ML single-game record for most players with at least 1 HR...Finished the season with a careerhigh 41-game errorless streak...On 12/8 had arthroscopic surgery to clean out his left knee (Dr. Timothy Kremchek).

2000

Batted .285 (83-for-291) with 12 HR and 43 RBI in 84 games...On 8/8 had reconstructive surgery to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee (Dr. Timothy Kremchek, Dr. James Andrews)...Injured the knee on 7/5 at St. Louis...Missed three starts before he played again in the 5-3 loss vs. Cleveland on 7/9, when he entered the game in the ninth inning as a defensive replacement and aggravated the injury while fielding a ground ball...On 7/12 went on the disabled list, retroactive to 7/10, and on 9/2 was transferred to the 60-day DL...At the time of the knee injury was tied for the club lead with 18 doubles...Despite the injury still led the club with 80 starts at third...On 6/13 at San Francisco suffered a broken nose when he was hit by a Russ Ortiz pitch but missed only the next day's game...In the victory on 5/12 vs. San Diego combined with brother Bret for 6 hits, 3 HR and 7 RBI.

2001

Was hampered by three disabling injuries and two surgeries but in 103 games still hit a career-high .294 (112-381) with 26 doubles, 14 HR and 62 RBI...Reached base safely in 88 of his 103 games...Combined with Marinersf 2B Bret Boone (141RBI) to become just the sixth set of brothers to produce 200RBI in a season, most recently accomplished by Lee & Carlos May in 1973...The others were Irish & Bob Meusel (5x), Roy & Bob Johnson (once), Joe & Vince DiMaggio (3x) and Joe & Dom Dimaggio (once)...Was on the disabled list three times with broken bones suffered when he was hit by pitches, from 5/15-6/14 with a broken hamate bone in his right hand, from 8/15-8/31 with a broken right wrist and from 9/24 through the end of the season with a broken left thumb...Suffered the hamate injury on 5/14 vs. Houston, when he was hit by a Wade Miller pitch, and the next day had surgery to remove the bone (hand specialist Dr. Greg Sommerkamp, Dr. Timothy Kremchek)...Suffered the right wrist injury on 8/14 at St. Louis, when he was hit by a Matt Morris pitch...On 9/23 at Milwaukee suffered a broken left thumb, when he was hit by a Jamey Wright pitch, and on 9/27 had surgery to insert a pin and a wire into the thumb (Sommerkamp, Kremchek)...Led the club with 19 errors, the T4th-highest total among all Major League third basemen...On 4/28 at Colorado was ejected by HP umpire Hunter Wendelstedt, who an inning earlier had ejected manager Bob Boone...It was believed to be the first father/son ejection in Major League history...Was Aaronfs second career ejection (6/20/97 at StL)...on 7/16 vs. Detroit produced a single, 2 doubles and a home run...In his last plate appearance was thrown out trying to stretch a double in his attempt to become the first Reds batter to hit for the cycle since Eric Davis on 6/2/89 vs. San Diego.

2002

Became only the seventh Reds player to produce at least 25 homers and 25 stolen bases in a season...Led the club in games (162), total bases (266), RBI (87) and stolen bases (32)...Tied Adam Dunn for the club lead in homers (26)...Established career highs in games, at bats (606), doubles (38), HR, walks (56) and stolen bases (32)...With 32 stolen bases led all Major League third basemen and ranked sixth overall in the NL...Among all ML third basemen ranked 6th in HR and 7th in RBI...After the All-Star break led the National League with 26 doubles... 2004

Missed the entire 2004 season after having a pair of surgeries on his left knee...Had off-season surgery on his left knee after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament playing in pick-up basketball game in January in Newport Beach, CA...Had the surgery performed on 2/16 by Dr. Lewis Yocum in Anaheim, CA...At the time of the injury he was on the New York Yankees 40-man roster and he was later officially released by the Yankees on 3/1...He rehabbed at his home in Arizona following surgery and signed a free agent major league contract with Cleveland on 6/26... Joined the Indians on 11-game road trip at end of July and began experiencing pain and swelling in the surgically repaired knee during his rehab...Was shutdown from baseball-activities and underwent a second procedure on 8/20 to remove loose bodies and promote cartilage growth in the left knee joint...Surgery was performed by Dr. Richard Steadman and Dr. Mark Schickendantz in Vail, CO.
