Spent most of the season at Single-A Greensboro where he made 20 starts before he was promoted to High-A Bradenton on July 26…made five starts there and was a combined a 12-8 with a 3.32 ERA in 25 starts…had career highs in wins, starts, innings pitched (135.2) and hits (112) and matched his high in losses…tied for second among Pirates minor leaguers in wins and ranked fifth in ERA…had 11 wins with Greensboro, which tied for second in the South Atlantic League…did not allow a run in three of his first four starts and went 4-0 with a 0.91 ERA in five starts in April…was named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 3-9…made one start that week on June 5 against Charleston and struck out a career-high 10 batters in 6.0 scoreless innings…allowed one hit and one walk but had a no decision in a 2-1 loss… was 4-0 with a 2.10 ERA in five starts in June…tossed a career-high 7.1 innings Aug. 5 at Charlotte…was on the injured list from Aug. 12 to 21 with a sprained left ankle.
2018
Spent his first season in the United States at Single-A West Virginia and went 4-6 with a 4.18 ERA in 14 starts…ranked second in the New York-Penn League in innings pitched (75.1)… walked just 19 batters in 75.1 innings, an average of 2.27 per nine innings…yielded just two home runs…allowed a .263 opponents batting average, including .220 with a .606 OPS against left-handed pitchers and .297 with a .767 OPS against right-handers…struck out a season-high nine batters in 5.0 innings on Aug. 7 against Batavia…then logged 7.0 scoreless innings in a 4-1 victory over Williamsport on Aug. 17.
