2023
Began the season in the Rockies organization before signing to a Minor League contract with Boston as a free agent on June 27. Appeared in 16 games (four starts) for Colorado, going 1-4 with a 11.57 ERA (33 ER/25.2 IP). Went on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Albuquerque after having lower back stiffness, tossing an 0-0 record with a 0.84 ERA (one ER/10.2 IP) in three starts. Spent five games (four starts) with Triple-A Worcester, delivering a 0-0 record with a 3.72 ERA (eight ER/19.1 IP) with 16 strikeouts against seven walks. Appeared in only one game for Boston, giving up three runs in two innings of relief. Fired a season-high six strikeouts on May 26 with Triple-A Albuquerque against Round Rock across 4.2 innings…spun a combined six scoreless outings across both levels and organizations…owned a .226 batting average against righties compared to .204 against lefties.

First full season working out of the bullpen...claimed off waivers from Milwaukee on Aug. 5....Scoreless in 13 of 19 outings with the Rockies (1-1, 4.05 ERA)...was acquired by the Brewers as part of a five-player deal for LHP Josh Hader on Aug. 1 but did not make an appearance with Milwaukee before getting designated for assignment on Aug. 3....Went 1-1 with a 1.86 ERA (9.2 IP, 2 ER) though his first nine games with the Rockies...1-1 with a 2.81 ERA (16.0 IP, 5 ER) through his first 15....1-0 in 11 games at Coors Field, posting a 2.77 ERA (13.0 IP, 4 ER) while holding opposing hitters to a .204/.304/.347 slash line....Was 0-1 with a 9.49 ERA (12.1 IP, 13 ER) in 13 relief appearances with the Padres (Opening Day-May 12, July 10 and July 26-31)....Made 17 appearances with Triple-A El Paso (11 games) and Double-A San Antonio, going a combined 0-1 with a 1.93 ERA (18.2 IP, 4 ER).

Worked in relief for the first time in his career, making 13 appearances out of the pen (5.09 ERA, .231 AVG) in addition to nine starts (3.99 ERA, .280 AVG)...Began the season on the 10-day IL (right UCL sprain) and missed the club’s first 19 games…reinstated April 21 and made his season debut with a 2.0-scoreless inning start vs. MIL (4 SO, 1 BB) but landed back on the IL the next day with right forearm inflammation...Reinstated on May 4 and made the start vs. PIT (2.0 scoreless-IP), followed by allowing one run across 2.0 IP on May 11 @ COL...After making 50 career starts, he made his first career relief app. May 16 vs. STL, and earned his first victory of the campaign....he made another relief app. in his next outing May 22 vs. SEA, tossing 3.0 IP and allowing one unearned run...His next six appearances came in a starting role from May 28-June 26, going 1-3 with a 4.63 ERA and .284 opp. AVG...Placed back on the 10-day IL (right forearm inflammation) on June 27 for his third and final IL stint, missing the club’s next 52 games…made three rehab appearances in relief with Lake Elsinore (A) in August, allowing just one earned run across 4.0 IP...Reinstated on Sept. 1 and worked exclusively out of the bullpen to finish his season, making 11 appearances (6.39 ERA, .229 opp. AVG)...Recorded his first career hold Sept 4 vs. HOU...Relied on four pitches: Slider (51%), 4-Seam Fastball (44%), Sinker (4%) and Changeup (2%)...Opponents hit .158 vs. his slider with a 42.5 whiff percentage...His 4-Seamer averaged 95.5 mph with a 2430 rpm spin rate (88th percentile), but opponents hit .360 against it.

Split the season between El Paso (AAA) and SD, making his MLB debut on 5/25 at NYM... Became just the 18th rookie in Padres history to make at least 20 starts in a season…besides Luis Perdomo's 20 starts in 2016, the last Padre rookie to make 20-or-more starts was Justin Germano in 2007 when he took the ball 23 times... Allowed three earned runs or less in 15 of his 21 starts, posted 139 SO to just 54 BB and limited opposing hitters to a .210 (88- for-419) average... Averaged 10.94 SO/9 IP, the fourth-best mark by a rookie all-time (minimum 20 starts)…Kerry Wood posted a 12.58 mark in 1998, followed by Dwight Gooden (11.39 in 1984) and Hideo Nomo (11.10 in 1995)... Among pitchers with at least 20 games started this season, Lamet's 10.94 SO/9 IP ratio ranked eighth in the majors and fourth in the NL, behind only ARI's Robbie Ray (12.11), WSH's Max Scherzer (12.02) and LAD's Rich Hill (11.01)… his .210 opponent batting average ranked ninth in the majors and fifth in the NL... In his next start, he improved to 2-0 in his Petco Park debut on 5/30 vs. CHC, tossing 5.0 IP of two-run ball, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out eight in the Padres' 6-2 victory…per ELIAS, with his eight strikeouts, he became the first rookie since 2014 to fan eight batters in each of his first two MLB starts since NYY's Masahiro Tanaka in 2014…he was the 13th rookie to accomplish the feat in the modern era (1900-present)... Struck out a career-high 12 batters in his start on 6/17 at MIL, the second-highest single-game total by a Padres rookie in franchise history, behind only Oliver Perez's 13 on 7/7/02 at COL..the 12 strikeouts matched the highest single-game total by any rookie this season (also: CIN's Amir Garrett on 4/19/17 vs. BAL)... Earned the win in three consecutive starts from 7/23-8/6, posting a 1.96 ERA, 18 SO against six BB and a .172 opponent batting average…joined Jhoulys Chacin and Luis Perdomo as the only Padre hurlers to earn a win in three consecutive outings in 2017... Allowed three earned runs or less in 10 consecutive starts from 7/23-9/13, just the fifth Padres starter to allow three earned or less in at least 10 straight since 2015…over the stretch, he went 4-3 with a 2.44 ERA (16 ER, 59.0 IP) with 66 SO to 28 BB with a .185 opponent batting average... Limited right-handed hitters to a .155 (32-for-206) average while lefties hit .263 (56-for-213)... Allowed 11 home runs in his first nine starts from 5/25 to 7/18 and seven over his final 12 starts from 7/23 to 9/26.
