His father, Roger, was his head coach at Buckhorn and helped him earn All-State 3B and All-Tennessee Valley 3B honors as a senior...Pitched three seasons at Vanderbilt (Tenn.) Wright landed on the 15-day Injured List right before Opening Day in 2023 due to inflammation in his right shoulder, before returning on April 11...Made five starts from April 11-May 3, but struggled to a 5.79 ERA (12 ER in 18.2 IP), allowing two HR and 10 walks with a .288 (23-for-80) opponents’ average... Atlanta sent him back to the Injured List on May 4 to heal that same shoulder, and he remained there through Sept. 10, before he was reinstated on Sept. 11 for a start at Citizens Bank Park vs. the Phillies; a start in which he allowed six runs on six hits in just 3.0 innings...He made one more start on Sept. 18 vs. the Phillies (4.0 IP, 4 ER) before moving to the Braves bullpen for a pair of appearances on Sept. 24 at Washington (3.0 IP, 1 ER) and Sept. 28 vs. the Cubs (2.1 IP, 1 ER), marking his first relief appearances since he was a rookie in 2019...He finished the year on the Braves 60-day Injured List with a right shoulder strain, and remained there through Atlanta’s playoff run...Was acquired by the Royals on Nov. 17 for RHP Jackson Kowar in a swap of former first-round selections.

Made two starts for Atlanta in the regular season, going 0-2 with a 9.95 ERA (7 ER/6.1 IP) and six strikeouts...Spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Gwinnett and went 10-5 with a 3.02 ERA (46 ER/137.0 IP), 137 strikeouts and a pair of shutouts for the Stripers...Over his final 12 starts for the Stripers, went 8-1 with a 2.11 ERA (18 ER/76.2 IP) and just a .199 batting average against him…He struck out 78 and walked just 17...He was named AAA East Pitcher of the Week in September after tossing a two-hit shutout Sept. 19 vs. Nashville… He did not walk a batter and struck out five. ...Was added to Atlanta’s postseason roster prior to the World Series and pitched in Games 2 and 4, combining to allow just five hits and one run over 5.2 innings…He struck out six...Entered Game 4 with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the first inning and induced a ground out and a strikeout to allow just one inherited runner to score…Proceeded to yield just one run over 4.2 innings as Atlanta rallied to win, 3-2, and take a three-games-to-one series lead.

Made a career-most eight starts during his third major league campaign, going 2-4 with a 5.21 ERA (22 ER/38.0 IP)...Won each of his last two decisions and the Braves won his last three starts...Went 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA (5 ER/19.0 IP) in his last three starts, allowing opponents to bat just .164 and walking six...The wins came after Wright went 0-7 to begin his major league career...Prior to his last three outings, the Braves were just 2-14 in the 16 career games in which Wright had pitched...Since the Braves moved to Atlanta in 1966, just three other pitchers have started their careers winless in their first seven decisions…Dave Campbell (1977- 78) and Joel De La Cruz (2016) each started 0-7, while Frank LaCorte (1975-76) was winless in his first nine decisions...He opened the season in Atlanta’s rotation and made four starts for the Braves, going 0-3 with a 7.20 ERA (12 ER/15.0 IP) before being optioned on August 20...Was recalled, August 8, from the club’s alternate training site and went 2-1 with a 3.91 ERA (10 ER/23.0 IP) over his final four starts.

Made his playoff debut in Game 3 of the NLDS vs. Miami and pitched 6.0 shutout innings in the start, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out seven...He became just the fifth player in franchise history to throw at least 6.0 scoreless frames in their playoff debut... The others were Ian Anderson (2020), Steve Avery (1991), Johnny Sain (1948) and Bill James (1914)…He is the second Braves rookie to do so, joining Anderson...Wright and Anderson both pitched 6.0 shutout innings in their postseason debuts in 2020, becoming the first pair of rookie teammates in MLB history to each throw 6.0 scoreless frames in their playoff debut in a single postseason...Just four sets of teammates had done so in their postseason debuts at any point in their careers, with Baltimore’s Mike Boddikcer and Storm Davis last doing so in 1983…Jimmy Ring and Hod Eller of the 1919 Cincinnati Reds did so, while the 1966 Baltimore Orioles had three such pitchers (Moe Drabowsky, Jim Palmer and Wally Bunker)...Also started for Atlanta in Game 3 of the NLCS vs. Los Angeles and pitched just 0.2 innings, allowing five hits and seven runs, all earned, to take the loss...He is just the fifth pitcher in franchise history to start a playoff game and not complete a full inning, joining Mike Foltynewicz (Game 5, 2019 NLDS), John Thomson (Game 3, 2004 NLDS), Steve Avery (Game 5, 1992 NLCS) and Bob Buhl (Game 3, 1957 World Series)...Is just the second Braves starter to ever allow seven earned runs in a postseason start, joining Hall-of-Famer Tom Glavine who did so four times.

The Braves pitched RH Julio Teheran on Opening Day, followed by rookies RH Bryse Wilson and RH Kyle Wright in games two and three…2019 marked the first time since 1905 that the Braves had two (or more) rookie starting pitchers in the first three games of the season... RH Dick Harley started game two in 1905, while LH Irv Young made the first of his 42 starts that season in game three... Wright, who appeared in four games out of the bullpen in 2018, became the first Braves pitcher to make his first career start in the first three games of a season since LHP Horacio Ramirez in 2003... Following those starts on Opening Weekend, Wilson and Wright made just 11 more appearances for the Braves on the season, including six starts... Atlanta beat San Francisco, 8-1, on 9/21…Wright pitched 1.0 inning of relief in the win, his 11th career appearance... That day marked Atlanta's first win in a game in which Wright pitched... The Braves lost each of the first 10 games in which he pitched, the longest such streak of losses to start a player's career since Atlanta lost each of the first 12 games in which Dan Winkler pitched from 9/21/15-9/8/17...
