Wright landed on the 15-day Injured List right before Opening Day in 2023 due to inflammation in his right shoulder, before returning on April 11...Made five starts from April 11-May 3, but struggled to a 5.79 ERA (12 ER in 18.2 IP), allowing two HR and 10 walks with a .288 (23-for-80) opponents’ average... Atlanta sent him back to the Injured List on May 4 to heal that same shoulder, and he remained there through Sept. 10, before he was reinstated on Sept. 11 for a start at Citizens Bank Park vs. the Phillies; a start in which he allowed six runs on six hits in just 3.0 innings...He made one more start on Sept. 18 vs. the Phillies (4.0 IP, 4 ER) before moving to the Braves bullpen for a pair of appearances on Sept. 24 at Washington (3.0 IP, 1 ER) and Sept. 28 vs. the Cubs (2.1 IP, 1 ER), marking his first relief appearances since he was a rookie in 2019...He finished the year on the Braves 60-day Injured List with a right shoulder strain, and remained there through Atlanta’s playoff run...Was acquired by the Royals on Nov. 17 for RHP Jackson Kowar in a swap of former first-round selections.
